Collins Aerospace is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to work on the Advanced Field Artillery Tactical Data System (AFATDS) International programs as part of the Software Engineering department at our Fort Wayne, Indiana office site. This is an excellent opportunity to join the fast paced and exciting Raytheon/Collins team. Success in this position will enhance the reach of the AFATDS International family of products throughout the world.
The successful candidate is expected to work in a team environment under the guidance of a team leader to develop implementation of software requirements for various Fire Support Command and Control (C2) software products, including, but not limited to, the development of future capabilities required for advanced battlefield situations and may also serve as a sub-team lead or Scrum Master, helping coordinate day-to-day technical activities, ensuring alignment with sprint goals, and supporting agile development practices.
What You Will Do
  • Implement AFATDS software capabilities for new and/or updated requirements
  • Identify, analyze, and remedy bugs in the existing AFATDS software
  • Path find future software capabilities involving AI toolsets and algorithms
  • Work with a technical mentor utilizing a defined project plan and milestones
  • Act as a Scrum Master when needed, facilitating agile processes and effective communication.
  • Serve as a sub-team leader by coordinating technical tasks and ensuring program alignment.

Qualifications You Must Have
  • Experience with one or more build tools / IDEs (e.g. CMake, make, Visual Studio, VS Code, etc.), using development workflow tools such as JIRA, Git, Subversion, Docker, and requirements management applications, Object Oriented programing languages with C++ or Java.
  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience.

The salary range for this role is 107,500 USD - 204,500 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
Hired applicants may be eligible for benefits, including but not limited to, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, flexible work schedules, employee assistance program, Employee Scholar Program, parental leave, paid time off, and holidays. Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement.
