Job Description
This role leads and performs commercial carpentry work on a large project in the Denver metro and Longmont area, overseeing all phases from rough construction through finish and punch list. You will work hands-on while coordinating site activities, ensuring quality workmanship, maintaining a clean and safe job site, and driving each assigned scope to successful completion.
Responsibilities
- Oversee and perform all phases of commercial carpentry work on assigned projects, from rough framing through finish and punch list completion.
- Install and complete backing and blocking to support fixtures, millwork, cabinetry, and other building components according to plans and specifications.
- Install, maintain, and inspect temporary and permanent safety and handrails to support a safe work environment.
- Perform finish carpentry work, including trim, millwork, and cabinetry installation, ensuring a high level of quality and detail.
- Assist with rough carpentry and framing activities as the project transitions from rough phase through subsequent stages.
- Complete punch list items efficiently, ensuring all details meet project standards and are ready for final turnover.
- Keep the job site clean, organized, and contained, including regular debris removal and material staging.
- Read and interpret blueprints and construction documents to plan and execute work accurately.
- Coordinate with other trades and project personnel to sequence work and minimize conflicts on site.
- Stay on assigned projects from start to finish, maintaining continuity and ownership of the carpentry scope.
- Provide day-to-day guidance and informal leadership to other carpenters and laborers, supporting productivity and safety.
- Monitor work quality and adherence to building codes, safety regulations, and project specifications.
Essential Skills
- At least 4 years of commercial carpentry experience at a journeyman level.
- 10–15 years of overall carpentry experience, including both rough and finish work.
- Comprehensive knowledge of all phases of carpentry, including rough carpentry, framing, backing, blocking, and finish carpentry.
- Hands-on experience in commercial construction environments, including hospitality, housing, multi-family, education, and similar facilities.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints and construction documents.
- Ability to install backing, blocking, safety and handrails, millwork, cabinetry, and related components.
- Experience with both rough and finish carpentry on commercial projects.
- Capability to stay with a project from start to finish, maintaining consistency and accountability.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality workmanship.
- Ability to maintain a clean, organized, and safe job site.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Leadership and management experience in a construction or carpentry setting.
- Experience acting as a lead carpenter or working foreperson on commercial projects.
- in drywall-related work as it interfaces with carpentry scopes.
- Familiarity with punch list processes and final completion requirements.
- Strong communication skills for coordinating with project teams and other trades.
- Ability to adapt to different project types, including hospitality, living, multi-family, K-12, higher education, and federal projects.

Work Environment

The current assignment is at a new, unoccupied living facility in Longmont that is in the rough phase and progressing into framing and subsequent stages. Work is performed on active construction sites, involving standard commercial carpentry tools, materials, and equipment, with a strong emphasis on site cleanliness, safety, and organized work areas. The environment requires coordination with multiple trades and adherence to commercial construction standards throughout all phases of the project.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Denver, CO.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $28.00 - $35.00/hr.
