A day in the life

The Director of Government Affairs develops and executes Prologis' state government relations strategy across the West Region, with an emphasis on California. Reporting to the Vice President of Government Affairs, this role advances priorities for Prologis' logistics real estate, data center, and energy businesses through engagement with elected officials, government agencies, regulators, community partners, and industry stakeholders. The director advises senior leaders and market teams on legislative, regulatory, policy, and public affairs risks and opportunities that may affect development and operations. The role also coordinates internal business and legal partners, regional consultants, trade associations, and coalition partners to support project execution and long-term policy objectives.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Lead the development and execution of state legislative and regulatory advocacy strategies across the West Region, with an emphasis on California.
  • Define measurable advocacy outcomes tied to business priorities and communicate progress, risks, and recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Build and maintain relationships with state legislators, legislative staff, executive branch agencies, regulators, governors' offices, industry partners, and coalition stakeholders.
  • Monitor, analyze, and influence legislation, regulations, and administrative actions affecting Prologis' logistics real estate, data center, and energy businesses.
  • Develop policy positions, legislative strategies, and advocacy campaigns in partnership with internal business leaders and external consultants.
  • Partner with legal, development, deployment, entitlements, communications, and market teams to integrate government affairs strategies into business planning, project execution, community engagement, and external messaging.
  • Direct regional government affairs consultants and coordinate trade association and partner organization engagement to advance Prologis' policy priorities.

Building blocks for success

Required:

  • 8+ years of experience developing and executing state legislative and regulatory advocacy strategies or serving in a legislative or executive branch policy role.
  • Experience navigating state legislative, executive branch, agency, and regulatory processes.
  • Demonstrated success building trusted relationships with legislators, legislative staff, executive branch officials, regulators, industry associations, and coalition partners.
  • Ability to assess how state policy affects local land use, zoning, environmental permitting, development, and infrastructure matters.
  • Ability to translate complex policy and regulatory developments into clear recommendations for senior audiences.
  • Strong written, verbal, and organizational communication skills with consistent attention to detail.
  • Sound judgment and discretion when solving problems in changing policy environments.
  • Ability to travel 20%-30%.

Preferred:

  • Experience advocating on issues involving real estate, land use, environmental policy, construction, transportation, infrastructure, logistics, or related industries.
  • Demonstrates willingness and capability to leverage emerging technology, automation, and AI tools to improve efficiency, quality, and speed. Exercises sound judgment, creative thinking, and accountability for outcomes.

Hiring Salary Range of:$172,000 - $215,000. Salary and whole compensation package (bonus target & LTI (Long Term Incentives)) to be determined by the candidate's location, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
