CARROLLTON PUBLIC SCHOOLS  EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY

                                   K-8 Spanish Teacher (Shared Time Program)

                              2026-2027 School Year

Summary of position: A caring, certified teacher with knowledge of, and experience in, teaching using a holistic approach to learning.  The teacher shall understand and be able to apply principles of cooperative learning and have an understanding of the Michigan Standards of Quality for teaching.    

Reports To:  Shared Time School Principal & Director of Shared Services

Compensation: Per Carrollton Public Schools Shared Time Traveling Teacher Salary Schedule 

Essential Job Functions:

  • Develop and implement daily lesson plans using instructional strategies and techniques that address the needs of diverse students.

  • Provide instruction aligned with the district's curriculum standards and state Spanish language standards.

  • Have an in-depth understanding of elementary and middle school students and ability to apply effective teaching strategies for all students to help them reach their potential socially and academically.

  • Work with teachers, students, parents, and administration to achieve successful outcomes for students using MTSS and PBIS.

  • Keep and promote a positive attitude and culture when working with students, parents, other staff members, and community members who visit Carrollton Public Schools shared time facilities or programs.

  • Utilize formative and summative assessments to determine student growth.

  • Display a high level of proficiency in Google Programs including Google Docs, Sheets, Slides, and Classroom, as well as Microsoft Office.

  • Shall be of good character with high moral and ethical values.

  • Work to ensure a safe environment for students at all times.

  • Attend conferences, workshops, and professional development as requested.

  • Other duties as assigned by the building principal/supervisor.

Qualifications:

  • Must be certified by the State of Michigan in Spanish.

  • Ability to lift a minimum of 75 pounds.

  • Excellent oral and written communications skills are required.

  • Ability to work well with staff, parents, and students.

  • Must be willing to receive additional training to improve job skills 

  •  Must demonstrate competency in the classroom.

    Must satisfactorily pass:

  • Must receive a satisfactory response to 4205-F Authorization for Release of Information and Employee History Check under 1996 PA 189 of 1996; MCL 380.1230b.
  • Law enforcement background checks with fingerprinting and personal and professional reference background checks.
  • Personal and professional reference background check
