Job description

The School of Risk Management and Insurance (SRMI) at California State University, Fullerton is seeking an organized, resourceful, and detail-oriented Project Manager to oversee the planning, coordination, and implementation of SRMI events, programs, and special initiatives. The Project Manager serves as the primary coordinator for project planning, event logistics, communications, and stakeholder engagement while working closely with faculty, staff, students, industry partners, and vendors. The Project Manager is expected to manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensure deadlines are met, maintain high standards of professionalism, and contribute to the successful execution of activities that enhance student career development and strengthen SRMI's relationships with the insurance and risk management industry.

Essential Duties Plan, coordinate, and manage SRMI projects from initiation to completion. Assist with planning and executing industry events, networking programs, conferences, and student activities. Collaborate with the SRMI Director, faculty, staff, students, and industry partners to ensure successful project outcomes.

Develop project timelines, monitor progress, and ensure deadlines are met. Prepare reports, presentations, meeting materials, and project documentation. Coordinate communication with corporate partners, sponsors, vendors, and university departments.

Maintain project records, spreadsheets, budgets, and databases. Assist with hiring, training, and supervising student assistants when needed. Support the planning and implementation of research and special initiatives.

Perform other duties as assigned to support the School of Risk Management and Insurance Qualifications Excellent leadership, organizational, and project management skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Google Workspace. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively with faculty, students, and industry professionals. Experience in event planning, project coordination, or administrative support, is preferred.

Knowledge of insurance, risk management, business, accounting, or finance, is preferred. Ability to commit to the position long-term, is preferred. EDUCATION: Current graduate student or recent graduate of a graduate program.

Completion or current enrollment in a MBA, MS, or related field is preferred. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Prolonged sitting in front of computer. Walking, talking, hearing, pulling, bending, may carry 10-15 pounds of objects/material, not exposed to extreme noise level, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands or arms, stoop, kneel, taste or smell.
