Job Title: Engineering ManagerJob Description

This Engineering Manager role leads a team of mechanical engineers to design and deliver advanced vehicle and mobile equipment systems, with a strong focus on electric terminal tractors. You will manage multiple complex engineering projects from concept through delivery, drive process and quality improvements, and ensure that designs meet customer needs, regulatory requirements, and safety and reliability standards. The position blends technical leadership, people management, and cross-functional collaboration in a hybrid work environment.

Responsibilities
  • Recruit, mentor, and manage a team of mechanical engineers, fostering skill development, providing regular feedback, and building a collaborative and high-performing environment.
  • Execute and oversee multiple engineering projects simultaneously by managing timelines, resources, priorities, and risks to ensure on-time and high-quality delivery.
  • Direct technical activities and review mechanical designs to ensure technical accuracy, robustness, and alignment with project and business requirements.
  • Identify and solve complex technical challenges, driving continuous improvement in design approaches, tools, and engineering practices.
  • Liaise with other departments and external partners to communicate technical needs, project progress, and key design decisions clearly and effectively.
  • Implement, refine, and enforce development, testing, and documentation processes with a focus on efficiency, quality, and sustainability.
  • Plan resource requirements and inter-team assignments, ensuring the right skills and capacity are available to complete product development projects.
  • Analyze technology trends relevant to vehicle and mobile equipment design to inform product roadmaps and engineering strategies.
  • Lead the development of system requirement definitions that meet customer needs, regulatory requirements, and Hazard Analysis and Risk Management (HARA) mitigation tasks.
  • Apply system requirements and sound design principles to oversee the analysis of system performance, ensuring vehicle safety and reliability standards are consistently met.
  • Own the assessment, design, and analysis of mechanical structures, including cabin design, pneumatic systems, and electrical component placement and routing.
  • Ensure that hazard analysis, risk analysis, and risk management activities are integrated into the design process and documented appropriately.
  • Promote adherence to relevant industry standards and regulations related to vehicle and mobile equipment design.
  • Prepare and review technical documentation, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and consistency across engineering deliverables.
Essential Skills
  • Undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • 7+ years of proven experience in vehicle design, analysis, or a closely related field.
  • Experience leading complex design projects from concept through production-ready solutions.
  • Strong background in mechanical systems, including structures, cabin design, pneumatic systems, and integration of electrical components.
  • Experience with hazard analysis, risk analysis, and risk management in an engineering context.
  • Comfortable working with requirements management tools such as DOORS and Jira/Confluence.
  • Strong understanding of requirements engineering principles and methodologies.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in documentation tools and software, including Google Suite and Confluence.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
  • Fluency in English, both spoken and written.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Mobile equipment experience is a plus, particularly in the context of electric terminal tractors or similar platforms.
  • Previous management experience or formal leadership of engineering teams is a strong plus.

Work Environment

This role operates in a hybrid work environment, with an expectation of three days in the office and two days working from home, following a typical 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. schedule. Most of the work takes place in an office setting, where you will collaborate closely with engineering and cross-functional teams and use tools such as Google Suite, Confluence, DOORS, and Jira/Confluence to manage requirements, documentation, and project workflows. The environment supports a balance of focused individual work and team collaboration, reflecting a rapidly growing organization in the electric terminal tractor space.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $135000.00 - $165000.00/yr.
