ABOUT THE ROLE Reporting to the General Manager,Concrete the objective of this position is to work within the Quality Assurance/Quality Control department to optimize mix design and raw material costs, to implement and manage quality procedures and policies, manage product development and to provide assistance to customers and sales representatives. This position also meets the divisional quality goals and objectives, resulting in the reduction of quality incidents, associated costs and enhanced customer service and leads a team of QA/QC technicians in the field.
WHAT YOU'LL ACCOMPLISH
Administer, develop, implement, and standardize quality plans and processes for the Greater Edmonton / Northern Alberta Area. This shall be achieved by working closely with the General Managers, conducting quality audits and adhering to the WCan Quality Control Manual.
Lead and develop the Quality Assurance team for region.
Assess concrete mix designs for quality objectives, opportunities for increasing cement efficiencies and reducing total mix costs. Proper assessment of mix designs will be accomplished by reviewing field data and using appropriate technical software. Laboratory experiments shall be formulated to quantify desired properties of materials for the development of new products to be used in niche markets.
Represent the interests of the company in technical associations in throughout Alberta.
Work with specification writers, engineering consultants, architects, government agencies and customers to open lines of communication between these groups and Amrize and to promote Amrize's products and services.
Maintain a close working relationship with the Cement Division with respect to the quality of concrete materials and products as well as the promotion of concrete in general.
Work with the concrete & aggregate QA and sales departments to pre-qualify our construction materials; clarify and modify, where possible, specifications and assist customers with their bids on special projects.
Review, prepares and submits mix designs for various projects where required.
Utilization of CSA A23, A283, A3000, provincial/transportation/city specs/codes of practices for concrete, aggregates and ASTM standards related to construction materials for compliance and review.
Ensures safety is the number one priority; as a safety leader ensuring that Amrize safety standards are applied. Engages with employees on safety.
Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR Education:
Bachelor's Degree or Professional Technologist Designation. Field of Study Preferred:
Engineering. Required Work Experience:
3-5 years in a concrete or related industry. Required Training/Certifications:
Registered as a P. Eng. or P.Tech. ACI & CSA Concrete Testing Certification is an asset. Required Technical Skills:

Technically sound in the areas of ready mix, concrete, cement and aggregates.
