What is a Google New Grad?

A Google New Grad position refers to entry-level roles at Google that are specifically designed for recent graduates from universities or colleges. These roles are tailored for individuals who have little to no full-time work experience outside of internships or student jobs. Google New Grad positions are available in various fields, such as software engineering, product management, and data analysis. They offer comprehensive training, mentorship, and career development opportunities to help new graduates launch their careers at Google.

What are some common challenges new grads face when transitioning into a full-time role at Google, and how can they overcome them?

New grads at Google often find the transition from academia to the fast-paced, collaborative work environment to be challenging, particularly when adjusting to large-scale codebases, rapid iteration cycles, and cross-functional teamwork. To overcome these challenges, it's helpful to proactively seek feedback, participate in onboarding programs, and connect with mentors or peer groups within the company. Google encourages a learning mindset, so taking advantage of internal resources and asking questions is key to a smooth transition and professional growth.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Google New Grad, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Google New Grad, you need a strong background in computer science fundamentals, problem-solving skills, and a relevant degree such as a BS or MS in Computer Science or a related field. Familiarity with programming languages (like Python, Java, or C++), version control systems (e.g., Git), and experience with software development tools are typically required. Collaboration, adaptability, and effective communication are essential soft skills to stand out in Google's dynamic, team-oriented environment. These skills and qualities are crucial for contributing to innovative projects, adapting to rapid technological changes, and succeeding within Google's fast-paced culture.

Job description

Round Table Pizza has been a Bay Area institution for decades, and our East Bay franchise group has grown. We are looking for a community connector and marketing self-starter to help us grow our roots in every neighborhood we serve.

This is a rare opportunity to own a marketing function end-to-end, from strategy to execution to results, for a beloved local brand. You will spend your days building genuine relationships with schools, sports leagues, community organizations, and local businesses, turning those relationships into revenue-generating partnerships, and telling our story across social media in a way that feels authentic and local.

This role reports to and receives direct oversight from the incumbent marketing lead, and works closely with the managing partners of the ownership group. You will have real access to decision-makers, clear direction from experienced leaders, and a high degree of autonomy to make things happen in the field.

This role is ideal for someone who is naturally plugged into East Bay community life, whether a parent active in school PTAs, youth sports, or local organizations, or an ambitious new grad who wants real ownership of a marketing function from day one. You are equal parts community builder, sales rep, content creator, and brand ambassador.

We are building a community connection here, not just filling a seat. The right person will grow with us as the franchise expands, with the opportunity to take on more responsibility, build out a small team, and shape what community marketing looks like for this ownership group over the next several years. If you are looking for a short-term role, this is not it. If you are looking for a place to plant roots and build something you are proud of, we are excited to hear from you.

What You Will Own

Community and School Partnerships

  • Build and maintain relationships with PTAs, school administrators, parent groups, and community organizations near all five locations
  • Pitch and activate our \Raise More with Round Table\ fundraising program, a free and turnkey fundraising solution that generates thousands of dollars annually for partner organizations
  • Coordinate back-to-school night events, dine and donate nights, teacher appreciation nights, and in-store class parties
  • Manage student achievement award programs, including free personal pizza awards for citizenship and academic recognition

Youth Sports and Recreation

  • Partner with local soccer, swim, baseball, and recreational sports leagues on team parties, end-of-season events, and achievement awards
  • Pursue championship meet and tournament vendor opportunities
  • Develop exclusive birthday party pizza provider agreements with venues such as gymnastics studios, trampoline parks, and recreational facilities in the area

Social Media and Digital Presence

  • Own and grow social media accounts across platforms for all five locations, including planning content calendars, creating posts, writing captions, and engaging with followers
  • Build community presence in local Facebook groups, Nextdoor, and community pages to surface events and create opportunities for sponsorships and promotions
  • Capture photo and video content at events and in-store to fuel a steady content stream
  • Run creative campaigns tied to national moments (National Pizza Day, watch parties, back-to-school season) and local events

Reputation and Online Presence

  • Monitor and respond to reviews across Google, Yelp, and other platforms for all five locations
  • Keep Google Business Profiles accurate and up to date, including hours, menus, photos, and posts
  • Actively solicit positive reviews from fundraising partners and happy event guests

Pipeline and Reporting

  • Maintain an organized lead list and partnership pipeline with current status, next steps, and follow-up cadence
  • Provide a simple monthly summary of activity, partnerships activated, events executed, and social growth
  • Capture guest contact information at events to support future outreach and list building

What We Are Looking For

  • Genuinely connected to East Bay community life, through schools, sports, neighborhood organizations, or similar involvement
  • Confident making cold calls and introductions, and comfortable pitching a program and following up
  • Strong written communication skills for social media, email outreach, and partner correspondence
  • Naturally organized, with the ability to keep your own pipeline, remember follow-ups, and never let a warm lead go cold
  • Self-starter who thrives with autonomy and does not wait to be told what to do next
  • Comfortable capturing photo and video on a smartphone and creating social-ready content
  • Professional, warm, and relationship-oriented, with a track record of people enjoying doing business with you
  • Familiarity with Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, and tools like Canva is a plus
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a bias toward action over process-building

Who Thrives in This Role

This is a great fit for a motivated parent who is already active in multiple East Bay communities, maintains strong and professional relationships, and wants a flexible role that complements family and school schedules. It is also a strong fit for a new college graduate looking to launch a marketing or sales career with a well-known Bay Area brand, a great product, and real responsibility from day one.

Logistics

  • Travel across five East Bay locations required
  • Personal vehicle, valid driver's license, and current auto insurance required
  • Mileage reimbursed at the IRS standard rate
  • Laptop provided
  • Works in close coordination with store managers and the ownership group
  • Must operate within Round Table corporate brand guidelines

In 1959, Bill Larson opened the first Round Table Pizza in Menlo Park, California. He envisioned a gathering place where you could “share a little pizza with someone you love.” Bill believed in using gold-standard ingredients and time-honored recipes to boldly bake hand-crafted pizza worth sharing.
Today, we pay homage to Bill’s vision by continuing to use only superior ingredients in our pizzas, along with many of his original recipes. At the same time, we are refreshing our brand look – from the logo to the store design itself – to better reflect the extraordinary pizza we bake, and the dreams of our founder.
