Job description

  • SIGNING BONUS: $1,000 Full Time & $500 Part Time. Must mention this add upon hire, and the bonus will be paid after satisfactorily completing a 90 day probationary period.

FHAR is a progressive and innovative agency that provides residential, supported living, vocational and recreational services to over 220 individuals in San Mateo County. . We foster an atmosphere of appreciation, respect and dignity for all. We are seeking Direct Support Staff to join our creative and caring team. You will assist in the daily care of individuals with intellectual and developmental special needs in our residential, supported living and day program services. There are full time and part time positions available. Excellent full time benefits include: medical, dental, optical, chiropractic insurance (all premiums including health are 100 % agency paid) plus a very generous vacation, sick PTO, holiday package. FHAR has annually (past 35 years) awarded all staff with generous year-end bonuses to acknowledge and show appreciation of their dedicated services.

    ALL POSITION QUALIFICATIONS: Please specify what position you are interested in when applying.

    1. Residential Direct Care Support Staff (DSP) - Level 4 Behavioral Adult Residential Facilities in San Mateo County. Position responsibilities include providing oversight and training in all aspects of independent living, behavioral management, medication management, personal safety and home cleanliness. The home's program goal is to maximize the independence of the residents while facilitating their self-confidence through healthy social relationships and community inclusion. Full, part time and on call positions available. $22.00 per hr. plus an excellent benefit package for full time employment including: health, dental, vision, chiropractic insurance plans (all premiums 100 % agency paid) and a very generous vacation, sick leave and holiday package.

    Full and part time overnight positions

    • Weekends Part Time: Saturday and Sunday - San Mateo, Belmont and San Bruno homes
    • Weekday Part Time late afternoon/evenings
    • On call positions for all Residential Facilities.

    2. ILS/Supported Living Caregivers (Full Time and Part Time) - Job duties include safety supervision and domestic skills training for consumers residing in their homes, Staff will assist with medication management, socialization, and the consumers' community access. Support for some ADL's (showering and dressing) required. Supported Living Facilities are located throughout San Mateo County. Overnight, day / evening and weekend shifts available with compensation up to $21.00 per hr. Excellent benefit package for full time employment including: health, dental, vision, chiropractic insurance plans (all premiums 100 % agency paid) and a very generous vacation, sick leave and holiday package.

    3. Independent Living Trainers - Very flexible hours and part time schedules available for Independent Living Trainers to provide support services to adults with intellectual special needs living in the community (San Mateo County). Responsibilities include assisting the consumer with their daily living skills to include: budgeting, shopping, socialization, community resources, household management and recreational activities. Compensation: $20.00 per hour.

    4. Vocational Day Program Community Trainer (Full and Part Time/FT – Monday thru Friday 8:30am to 3:30pm. PT – 9:00am to 3:00pm.) - Responsibilities include supervising and providing vocational and critical life skills training to a group of 3 consumers with developmental and intellectual special needs. The group will access the community utilizing public transportation, on a daily basis with employment and volunteer opportunities as the primary program focus. Other activities will include community activities such as shopping, banking, and attending recreational activities. This position can be Full Time or Part Time. $22.00 per hour with an excellent benefit package for full time employment including: health, dental, vision, chiropractic insurance plans (premiums 100 % agency paid) and a very generous vacation, sick leave and holiday package.

    5. Day Program Direct Care Staff (Full and Part Time/FT – Monday thru Friday 8:30am to 3:30pm. PT – 9:00am to 3:00pm.) - Responsibilities include supervising and providing social and critical life skills training to a group of 3 consumers with developmental and behavioral special needs. One to one positions are also available. This position can be Full Time or Part Time. $24.00 per hour with an excellent benefit package for full time employment including: health, dental, vision, chiropractic insurance plans (premiums 100 % agency paid) and a very generous vacation, sick leave and holiday package.

    6. Floater/Substitute Direct Support Staff (Full Time) - Provide substitute staff support for seven Level 4 Behavioral Residential Facilities and two Day Programs. Must be very flexible and able to work any hours on short notice during the week/weekends to cover staff vacations, sick leave and other staff absences. $22.00 to $24.00 per hour and excellent benefit package for full time employment including: health, dental, vision, chiropractic insurance plans (all premiums 100 % agency paid) and a very generous vacation, sick leave and holiday package.

    • Collaborate with clients and families for best care opportunities
