Minimum qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in a quantitative or social science field (e.g., Statistics, Economics, Computer Science, Psychology), or equivalent practical experience.
  • 15 years of professional experience, or 13 years with an advanced degree.
  • 7 years of experience leading and scaling applied-research or analytics teams.
  • Experience translating technical findings into narratives for executive audiences.

Preferred qualifications:
  • Master's degree or PhD in a STEM or social science discipline (e.g., Data Science, Economics, Organizational Behavior).
  • Experience utilizing product usage metrics and data assets to uncover workforce behavioral trends.
  • Experience advising C-suite executives on strategic talent management or organizational transformations.

About the job
As Director, you will architect Google's insights on the evolution of technology, people, and work. Leveraging an understanding of Google's AI portfolio-spanning infrastructure, Cloud, Gemini, and Workspace-you will lead longitudinal, data-backed research on the shifting dynamics of roles, leadership, and workplace culture.
In this role, you will partner with product leaders across Google Cloud, Google DeepMind, and Google Research, while building key relationships with academic institutions. Additionally, you will establish executive forums, convening global business leaders and technologists around shared insights.
Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
US: $262000 - $365000 (USD) 30% bonus target bonus equity benefits

Responsibilities
  • Lead flagship research projects focused on workforce evolution, tracking shifts in skills, roles, and automation impacts using internal product usage data.
  • Utilize a range of analytical perspectives (e.g., economics, organizational psychology, data science) to generate holistic insights on workplace culture.
  • Forge and lead collaborations with academic institutions and external research professionals to validate and shape Google's findings.
  • Design and lead high-impact forums to engage global CHROs, COOs, and technologists.
  • Support and participate with People Analytics to embed research-based assumptions and insights into long-term talent planning and People Operations products.
