Key responsibilities

  • Architect and implement GCP project, folder, and organization structures aligned with platform standards.

  • Design and automate Google Workspace identity, group, and access models while integrating Workspace with cloud identity systems.

Job description

Job Description:
Location: This is a hybrid position that requires the candidate to work on-site in Renton, WA, on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, and to work remotely on Mondays and Fridays.
Sr. Google Platform Engineer:
The cloud platform underpins how services are built, deployed, and operated across the organization. As the platform expands, integrating Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and Google Workspaces into a cohesive, governed, and automated ecosystem is critical to enabling secure collaboration, scalable infrastructure, and consistent developer experiences.
As a Senior Google Platform Engineer, you will design and implement the platform capabilities that unify identity, collaboration, and cloud infrastructure across GCP and Workspace technologies, like Analytics, Firebase, Maps, and Play. You will ensure these services are not managed as isolated tools, but as integrated components of a standardized, self-service platform.
This role operates at the platform architecture and implementation layer, translating identity, access, collaboration, and infrastructure requirements into automated, scalable, and secure platform patterns.
Success in this role means teams can provision, collaborate, and operate across Google services using consistent, automated workflows, without manual setup or fragmented configurations.
What You'll Do
Design GCP Platform Foundations
  • Architect and implement GCP project, folder, and organization structures aligned with platform standards
  • Implement Google managed accounts for GCP project, folder, and organization structures aligned with platform standards
  • Define and enforce identity and access patterns using IAM, service accounts, and federation
  • Build automated workflows for project provisioning, lifecycle management, and decommissioning
  • Ensure GCP environments are created through standardized, auditable, and repeatable processes
Integrate Google Workspace into the Platform
  • Design and automate Google Workspace identity, group, and access models
  • Integrate Workspace with cloud identity systems (e.g., Azure AD / Entra ID, SSO, federation)
  • Standardize provisioning and lifecycle of:
    • Users and groups
    • Shared drives and collaboration resources
    • Access controls aligned to platform guardrails
  • Ensure Workspace usage aligns with security, compliance, and governance standards

Enable Identity-Centric Platform Architecture
  • Build and enforce identity-first platform patterns across GCP, Workspace, and other cloud systems
  • Automate role-based access, group management, and policy enforcement
  • Ensure consistent identity propagation across:
    • Infrastructure
    • CI/CD systems
    • Observability platforms
  • Reduce reliance on manual access management and exception handling

Automate Platform Workflows & Guardrails
  • Implement Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) and automation for GCP and Workspace integrations
  • Encode platform guardrails using policy frameworks and automation tools
  • Ensure provisioning, access, and configuration changes occur through approved, observable workflows
  • Reduce manual intervention by expanding automation coverage

Integrate Cross-Platform Capabilities
  • Ensure GCP and Workspace integrate seamlessly with:
    • CI/CD platforms (e.g., GitLab)
    • Infrastructure tools (e.g., Terraform Cloud)
    • Observability platforms (e.g., Datadog)
  • Enable consistent patterns across multi-cloud and multi-tool environments

Drive Platform Adoption & Consistency
  • Partner with engineering teams to identify friction in platform usage
  • Improve usability through standard patterns, templates, and documentation
  • Ensure platform capabilities are easier to adopt than custom solutions
  • Guide teams toward platform-first usage models

What You'll Bring
Experience & Expertise
  • 5-8+ years of experience in cloud, platform, or infrastructure engineering
  • Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) architecture and services
  • Experience with Google Workspace administration and integration
  • Strong understanding of:
    • Identity and access management (IAM, SSO, federation)
    • Cloud organization and resource hierarchy design
    • Network and security fundamentals

  • Platform & Automation
    • Experience building automated, reusable platform capabilities
    • Proficiency with Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, etc.)
    • Strong scripting and automation skills
    • Experience integrating identity and access controls into automated workflows

    Cross-Platform Integration
    • Experience integrating GCP with:
      • Enterprise identity providers (e.g., Azure AD / Entra ID)
      • CI/CD and developer tooling ecosystems
    • Understanding of multi-cloud and hybrid platform architectures
    • Ability to lead technical design and influence platform standards
    • Experience mentoring engineers and reviewing platform designs
    • Strong communication skills across engineering, security, and leadership teams
Pay Range: $80.00 - $90.00 per hour, depending upon experience.
Health & Medical Benefits, 401K, Employee Assistance Program, and Sick Time applicable by state.
