Job description

Northstar Restaurant Group (Northstar Café, Brassica, and Third & Hollywood) is looking for a Financial Analyst to join our Finance and Accounting team.

As a member of Northstar and Brassica’s support office, you’ll contribute each day to help our organization achieve our goal of being the most loved restaurants in the neighborhoods we serve. Our support office team is small, nimble and works behind the scenes to help our restaurants create loved experiences, today and for decades to come.

As a Financial Analyst, you will play a pivotal role in providing analytics and planning support to leaders in our support office and restaurants. Your curiosity, ability to utilize data and develop, automate and maintain reports and dashboards will be leveraged to inform business decisions and drive the organization forward. 

Core Responsibilities:

  • Build and maintain financial models, including scenario analyses, cash flow models, and growth projections

  • Develop scalable dashboards and KPI reporting tools

  • Leverage AI-powered tools and automation technologies to streamline financial processes, improve reporting efficiency, and enhance data analysis and forecasting capabilities

  • Analyze and compare restaurant performance to identify trends and opportunities

  • Create and maintain metrics related to growth, profitability, expenses, efficiency, and productivity

  • Support capital investment planning and conduct ROIC analyses

  • Develop forecasting and planning tools for existing and new restaurants, pre-opening activities, and G&A departments

  • Monitor and report financial and operational performance metrics and ratios

  • Deliver actionable insights and recommendations based on financial and operational analyses

  • Align financial and operational analyses with business partners, challenging assumptions when necessary

  • Identify and communicate business risks and opportunities

  • Perform ad hoc financial analyses and support cross-functional strategic initiatives

  • Support office operations and leadership culture, modeling professionalism while contributing to day-to-day workplace organization and upkeep

  • This role is results-driven and deadline-focused; willingness to go above and beyond when necessary, including working outside standard office hours 

Qualifications:

  • Experience in financial analytics and business planning

  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance, accounting, mathematics or analytics, or a demonstrated track record of excellence, initiative, and follow-through in school and/or early career roles

  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Google Workspace

  • Exhibit expertise in financial modeling, data analysis and financial reporting tools, experience with PowerBI (or similar platforms) a plus

  • Eagerness and ability to learn industry-specific software; knowledge of Restaurant365 a plus

  • Strong experience using AI tools to automate financial processes and reporting

  • Willingness to learn and understand operations by completing a portion of initial training and onboarding in our restaurants

  • High attention to detail and accuracy with ability to multitask and meet deadlines in an efficient, effective and organized manner

  • Strong interpersonal, communication, problem solving and planning skills

  • Consistently exhibit discretion, character, and integrity
