Cogeco is actively seeking a Financial Analyst to join our Finance team!

As Cogeco is in the middle of a three-year strategic transformation, we are seeking a proactive Financial Analyst to serve as a key navigator for this journey.


In this role, you won't just report the number, you will own the narrative of our evolution. You will bridge the gap between financial theory and operational reality, ensuring every initiative is backed by a robust, challenged, and optimized business case.

The right candidate will build strong partnerships across the organization, track and report on financial performance as well as provide analysis to support opportunities. This role will be highly visible and cross functional with exposure to the senior leadership team.
Candidates should be detail oriented, possess a natural curiosity, and be driven to make an impact as a trusted advisor to the business.

Responsibilities:

  • Take full ownership of financial modeling; you will not only build business cases but also rigorously challenge assumptions to ensure maximum ROI.

  • Work shoulder-to-shoulder with operational teams to identify and quantify untapped revenue streams and cost-optimization opportunities.

  • Act as the translator between business needs and technical execution. You'll collaborate with the BI team to design intuitive dashboards and lead the charge in automating recurring reports.Understand the variances by collaborating with the operations team afterwards.

  • Help establish the North Star KPIs that will drive the transformation forward, monitoring these metrics closely to safeguard the long-term health of the business.

  • Partner with assigned business functions to track financial performance, provide financial information/updated forecasts, and compile analysis to help guide decision making and set strategy

  • Research and communicate close meetings highlighting risks and opportunities

  • Build business relationships and implement various initiatives in collaboration with operational teams to understand costs, optimize them, and ensure they represent the best investment for Cogeco.

  • Build and improve business models as part of Business Transformation processes

  • Create presentation materials to effectively communicate results and actions

  • Attend weekly/bi-weekly staff meetings communicating applicable financial topics with a focus on proactivity

  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to drive short- and long-term objectives

  • Facilitates ongoing compliance with internal procedures, policies and best financial practices

  • Complete other projects and analyses as assigned or as needs are recognized

Qualifications:

  • 3-5+ years experience working in a Finance related role (industry experience not required)

  • Undergraduate degree in a business-related field with an emphasis in finance and/or accounting (CPA or Master's degree a plus)

  • Proficient with accounting principles, financial terms, budgets, and financial reports

  • Bilingualism (FR/EN) required. The employee will need to collaborate with internal stakeholders outside of Quebec.

  • High degree of maturity, honesty, trust and integrity

  • Ability to partner with all levels of an organization

  • Self starter, creative thinker with solid analytical problem solving skills

  • Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy

  • Excellent time management and interpersonal skills

  • Strong and effective communication skills (both oral and written)

  • Proficient with Google and Microsoft suite

  • Proficient with Financial Systems (Workday experience a plus)
