Lake Mead Christian Ministries (LMCM) Minister- Security Officer (Swing Shift)

Under the general supervision of the LMCM Head of Security, the Campus Security Officer assists in maintaining a safe and secure school environment for students, staff, and guests on all LMCM campuses. Duties include supervising students before, during, and after school hours and up to and including after-school activities such as visual and performing arts, athletics, special events, etc.

The list of Essential Duties and Responsibilities is not exhaustive and may be supplemented as necessary.

  • Remains mobile and visible by patrolling school hallways, locker rooms, restrooms, Worship Arts Center, MPR, Cafés, Gym, all entrances and exits, and property perimeter. Supervision of parking lot activities during drop off and pick up, as well as during extracurricular activities after school hours
  • Examines doors, windows, and gates to ensure security throughout the day as well as at the end of the day
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including but not limited to, weekends, after-school hours, and special events
  • Opens entrance and exit gates at the beginning of each day and secures and locks entrance and exit gates at the end of each day as necessary (Last one out of the buildings should close and lock any open gates as they exit school property)
  • Observes and gathers information regarding inappropriate activities, student behavior, suspicious activities, and any unauthorized person on the property via patrol or live security surveillance cameras
  • Intervenes as necessary to maintain the safety of the students and staff by diffusing threatening situations/confrontations in a positive and constructive manner
  • Conducts Video Investigations as requested by Administrative leaders, Dean of Students, and/or teaching staff. Prepares student incident reports, referrals, and witness statements as well as all written review summaries and security footage of the incident as needed
  • Maintains alertness for problems likely to disrupt the educational process or to be injurious to person or property. Notifies the Head of Security Services (or Administration), of incidents, threats of harm to students/staff on or near campus, and other issues that require immediate attention
  • Holds mandatory presence at all PILB, CCW, active shooter, and emergency training conducted by the department head or outside contractors to ensure consistent policies and procedures are followed by all staff members
  • Approaches individuals entering school grounds, provides assistance, reports the presence of unauthorized persons, and/or stops visitors on campus to ensure they have proper authorization to be here
  • Maintains communication with Security Staff as well as other departments via Google Chat, Email, and two-way radio communications
  • Attends in-person Security Staff meetings as required
  • Maintains positive relationships and acts as a liaison between students, school staff, ministry staff, parents/guardians, law enforcement, and community leaders
  • Assists in conducting emergency response plans (ie: fire drills, lockdown drills, etc)
  • Acquires certification in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) within the initial 90 days of hire, maintain certification throughout employment, and be prepared to administer as necessary
  • Other duties as the supervisor deems necessary

The required spiritual qualities include acknowledging Christ as Savior and living life as His disciple, supporting LMCM mission by making disciples of Jesus Christ through community involvement, demonstrating spiritual flourishing through prayer, Bible study, and outreach to others, believing the Bible to be the inspired and authoritative Word of God, agreeing with and actively supporting the LMCM Statement of Faith, having evidence of the fruit of the Spirit in dealing with people, having a Christ-centered home, and attending and actively participating in an evangelical local church.

Qualifications/Experience include a CCW Permit required, 6 months min prior experience in Law Enforcement, Security, or Military recommended, but not required, the need to be able to complete CPR certification within the first 90 days of employment, experience working with children, and strong communication skills.
