Warehouse Systems Engineer (WMS)

Luminize

Fort Worth, TX • On-site

Job description

🚀 Be the Technical Bridge Between the Warehouse Floor and the Code Behind It

📍 Role: Warehouse Systems Engineer (WMS)
📍 Location: Fort Worth, TX (Onsite)
💰 Compensation Range: $105,000–$125,000 DOE

At Coastal Trading Ventures, we're building the operational infrastructure to support one of the fastest-growing eCommerce fulfillment operations in the country — and we're looking for a technically sharp, operationally grounded systems engineer to help us get there.

We're in the middle of a major WMS migration, moving from a custom AppSheet/Google Sheets environment to a modern backend built on Node.js, React, and PostgreSQL. This role is the connective tissue between our warehouse floor and our software engineering team — and we need someone who can work confidently in both worlds.

If you want to do work that's visible, technical, and genuinely impactful on day one, we'd love to meet you.

🎯 What You'll Be Doing

  • Own the "Go-Live" lifecycle for every system deployment — from staging and UAT through floor training and live cutover
  • Work hands-on alongside the Luminize Principal Systems Architect and engineering team to test, troubleshoot, and optimize WMS features at the code and data level
  • Diagnose and resolve issues inside the live WMS environment — tracing broken logic, data syncs, and integrations to root cause
  • Translate operational pain points from warehouse associates into clear, actionable technical requirements for engineering
  • Build and maintain automated reporting and dashboards in Looker Studio (and Power BI / Tableau) to track throughput, inventory accuracy, and system KPIs
  • Write SOPs and highly visual training guides for every new process or system change
  • Lead hands-on training sessions and stand-ups ahead of deployments to drive adoption and minimize disruption
  • Participate actively in sprint cycles, bug triage, and release planning alongside the engineering team

✅ What You Bring

  • Working proficiency in SQL — this is required, not preferred
  • Strong hands-on experience with AppSheet and advanced Google Sheets (QUERY, ArrayFormula, data validation)
  • Solid understanding of relational databases, PostgreSQL strongly preferred
  • Hands-on experience supporting or contributing to a migration from legacy Sheets/Apps Script tooling into a modern backend
  • Ability to read and write code to troubleshoot, automate, and support a live WMS environment
  • Proficiency in Looker Studio; familiarity with Power BI or Tableau
  • Direct experience working inside a software development team — Git, bug triage, Agile/sprint workflows
  • Exceptional written communication and self-direction; the engineering team is remote and moves fast
  • The ability to translate between a picker's frustration and a precise technical brief — and back again

💵 Compensation Transparency

We've listed a range of $105,000–$125,000/year to account for varying levels of experience, technical depth, and systems background. Where you land will depend on how your experience aligns with the role.

We compensate based on value and impact, not just years on paper, and we're happy to have open conversations throughout the process.

📈 Growth & Career Opportunities at Coastal Trading Ventures

Growth isn't just something we drive in our systems — it's how we think about our people.

You'll have visibility into clear career paths and what it takes to advance into senior technical, cross-functional, or leadership roles. You'll benefit from:

  • Mentorship from experienced operations and engineering leadership
  • Cross-functional exposure to software engineering, supply chain, business intelligence, and operations
  • A culture that rewards initiative, curiosity, and follow-through

If you're ready to take ownership of something that matters and grow with it, you'll be in good company here.
