Position Summary

We are seeking a motivated and hands-on Assistant Store Manager to support daily store operations, drive performance, and lead team members to deliver an exceptional customer and donor experience. This role plays a critical part in achieving sales goals, maintaining operational excellence, and supporting staff development.

Key Responsibilities

Store Operations & Performance

  • Support daily store operations to meet sales and performance goals
  • Ensure store is well-stocked, merchandised, and visually appealing
  • Monitor and control store expenses
  • Maintain accurate records (sales, inventory, donor logs, and reports)

Team Leadership & Development

  • Supervise, train, and support store employees
  • Assist with hiring, onboarding, and scheduling
  • Conduct training on store procedures, customer service, and loss prevention
  • Support employee performance evaluations and development
  • Address employee concerns and resolve conflicts professionally

Customer & Donor Experience

  • Promote a positive and welcoming environment for customers and donors
  • Train team members on customer engagement best practices
  • Help grow and maintain a strong local donor base

Cash Handling & Compliance

  • Oversee cash handling procedures, deposits, and reporting
  • Ensure adherence to company policies, safety standards, and loss prevention practices
  • Support payroll reconciliation when needed

Store Environment & Safety

  • Maintain store cleanliness (sales floor, backroom, restrooms, donation area)
  • Ensure a safe environment for employees and customers
  • Organize backroom operations for efficiency and productivity

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED (some college preferred)
  • Minimum of 2 years of retail experience
  • Minimum of 2 years of supervisory/leadership experience

  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
