Job Summary: The substitute school custodian's job is to perform sanitary cleaning to ensure a safe and clean learning environment in the absence of the regular custodian. The substitute custodian reports to the Director of Maintenance or designee and the building administration.Custodial Duties:Care of the building, equipment and furnishings under your careSafety, both inside and outside the buildingCleanliness of the interior building and outside groundsCreating and maintaining goodwill with staff, public and studentsPrimary Responsibilities:Responsible for the building, equipment and furnishings under your controlResponsible for the building keys assigned to you. Do not loan building keys to another person. The building should be locked except for authorized meetings and open only the areas necessaryWatch and correct hazards that could cause slips, trips and fallsKeep playground and grounds areas free from broken bottles, trash, rubbish piles or any other hazardsRemove snow and ice as necessary around entryways and outside stepsResponsible for the overall cleanliness level in your assigned areaMust be courteous and professional when communicating with staff, students and communityMaintain high level of professionalism and confidentialityWill be expected to be a team member in the building, working closely with other building custodians and building staffMust present appropriate appearance by maintaining personal hygiene and dressing in clean uniforms during the school yearResponsible for the efficient and effective use of supplies and equipmentComplete required district trainingsFlexibility is required to cover buildings in the district as requestedOther duties as assignedPhysical Requirements: Bending, carrying, climbing, driving, lifting, pushing/pulling, reaching, sitting, standing, walking, may be required to lift up to 50 lbs.
