About KCI Temporary Kitchens

KCI Temporary Kitchens provides mobile commercial kitchen facilities to hospitals, schools, healthcare facilities, and other institutions during renovations, emergencies, and special projects. Our work involves building, maintaining, delivering, installing, and servicing temporary kitchen trailers and support equipment throughout the United States.

Position Summary

KCI Temporary Kitchens is seeking a dependable, hands-on Commercial Facilities Technician to assist with the fabrication, repair, setup, teardown, and servicing of temporary commercial kitchen facilities.

This is an ideal role for someone who enjoys working with their hands, solving problems, traveling, and working in a fast-paced environment where every project is different.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Layout, install, test, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain temporary kitchen equipment and mobile facilities
  • Perform fabrication and repair work using hand tools, power tools, and shop equipment
  • Assist with plumbing, mechanical, electrical, and equipment installation tasks
  • Read and interpret blueprints, layouts, and work instructions
  • Travel to customer sites for installation, service calls, troubleshooting, and teardown of temporary kitchen facilities
  • Operate forklifts and other material handling equipment safely
  • Maintain shop tools, equipment, warehouse, building, and grounds
  • Follow company safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work environment
  • Work independently while following management direction and project schedules
  • Assist with all other operational tasks as needed

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to stand, kneel, crawl, bend, climb, and work in physically demanding environments
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat and cold
  • Ability to travel for extended periods, including overnight and multi-week assignments

Qualifications

Required:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Experience using hand tools, power tools, and shop equipment
  • Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability
  • Ability to follow instructions and work safely
  • Strong work ethic and attention to detail
  • Good physical condition
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Willingness to travel extensively

Preferred:

  • Forklift certification
  • Experience with plumbing, electrical, HVAC, mechanical repair, trailer repair, or fabrication
  • Experience in commercial kitchen equipment installation/service
  • Ability to read blueprints and technical drawings
  • Welding or metal fabrication experience
