Job description

Gamble Sands Golf Resort is excited to announce the exceptional career opportunity of Starter/Ranger. Qualified candidates will thrive in a hospitality environment and be highly focused in providing superior service.
 
The Starter/Ranger are integral to the guest experience and are important staff members on the golf operations team. Starter/Ranger will provide guest services by guiding players to the first tee at appropriate times and controlling a smooth pace of play on the golf course. They will also provide other guests services in the form of communication, directions, advice and answer questions from guest on other topics related to the golf course.
 
$17.13 per hour + Playing privileges, 50% off food anytime, cost plus 10% in the golf shop.
 
Qualifications, Knowledge and Skill Requirements:
  • Must have a valid driver’s license (if driving golf cars or driving range equipment)
  • Must have a strong work ethic
  • Must have friendly personality and enjoy working with the public
  • Must be organized and able to work well in fast paced environment
  • Must have strong customer/guest orientation
  • Must have strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Must be dependable
  • Working knowledge of the game of golf preferred

Position Responsibilities:

  • Maintains professional appearance.
  • Provides information regarding the golf course, play time and other golf related issues.
  • Provides customer service to arriving guests to help expedite check-in process.
  • Verifies that all revenues have been properly recorded by inspecting receipts for all players before they begin play on the golf course.
  • Keep golf personal informed regarding pace of play off the first tee.
  • Supplies guest with scorecards, pencils and other items if needed.
  • Advises guests of course conditions and expected pace of play.
  • Implements and supports all course policies and programs as communicated by management.
  • Observes pace of play on the golf course.
  • Assists slower groups/players and requests them to speed up play, where appropriate.
  • Reports pace of play to starter and golf shop personnel.
  • Assists starter on the first tee if needed during heavy demand periods.
  • Reports infarctions to appropriate golf shop personnel (Head Pro, 1st Assistant, ect.)
  • Ensures that all guests/players are following golf course rules and etiquette.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor or manager.
