Summary of Position:
The Golf Sales Manager is responsible for driving tournaments, outings, and golf-related revenue through proactive sales, business development, client relationship management, and cross-department collaboration. This position serves as the primary sales contact for golf tournaments, corporate and charity outings, group events, and promotional golf programs, with a strong focus on prospecting, lead conversion, and repeat business growth. The Golf Sales Manager works closely with Resort Sales, Convention Services, Marketing, and Golf Operations to maximize participation, revenue, and guest satisfaction while ensuring successful execution of events and a four-diamond guest experience. This role also provides operational support as needed and assists the Director of Golf Operations in achieving annual sales, revenue, and profitability goals for the golf operation.
The Golf Sales and Operations Manager is a key revenue driver and brand ambassador for the golf operation, leading the charge in generating tournaments, outings, and golf-related business. This role thrives on energy, creativity, and results-aggressively prospecting new opportunities, converting leads into booked business, and building lasting client relationships that fuel repeat growth.
As the primary point of contact for golf events-including corporate tournaments, charity outings, group play, and promotional programs-the Golf Sales Manager delivers an exceptional, seamless experience from initial inquiry through event execution. Success in this role comes from strong collaboration across Resort Sales, Convention Services, Marketing, and Golf Operations, ensuring every event maximizes participation, revenue, and guest satisfaction.
Beyond sales, this leader plays an active role in shaping the overall success of the golf operation-supporting on-site execution as needed and partnering closely with the Director of Golf Operations to achieve and exceed annual revenue, profitability, and performance goals. With a sharp focus on innovation, service, and results, the Golf Sales and Operations Manager helps position the golf experience as a premier offering within the resort.
Essential Functions :
Sales & Revenue Generation (80%)
  • Serve as the primary sales representative for all golf tournaments, group outings, corporate events, charity events, and golf-related programs.
  • Generate new business through prospecting, networking, relationship development, site tours, sales calls, community involvement, and client outreach.
  • Develop and maintain a robust sales pipeline and consistently achieve established revenue and booking goals.
  • Respond to inquiries, prepare proposals, negotiate agreements, and convert leads into confirmed business.
  • Build and maintain relationships with meeting planners, corporate clients, local businesses, charities, golf associations, and resort guests.
  • Conduct site inspections and presentations for prospective tournament and outing clients.
  • Collaborate with Resort Sales, Convention Services, and Marketing teams to identify opportunities to increase golf participation and revenue.
  • Develop and execute promotional campaigns, special events, instructional programs, and golf packages designed to drive rounds and revenue.
  • Monitor booking pace, market trends, competitive activity, and utilization reports to identify opportunities for increased business.
  • Maintain accurate sales forecasts, activity reports, lead tracking, and revenue projections.
  • Participate in sales blitzes, networking events, trade shows, and community organizations to promote the golf operation.
  • Drive retail sales through merchandise promotions, tournament gifting programs, and strategic partnerships.
  • Develop repeat business strategies and client retention programs to increase annual tournament and outing revenue.
  • Work closely with revenue management and resort leadership to maximize golf revenue opportunities associated with group business.
  • Achieve annual sales, revenue, and profitability goals established by the Director of Golf Operations and resort leadership.

Operations Support (20%)
  • Coordinate event details with golf operations staff to ensure successful tournament and outing execution.
  • Assist with daily golf operations as needed, including guest service recovery and support during peak periods.
  • Maintain communication with golf shop and outside services teams regarding tournament schedules and group needs.
  • Support service standards and operational procedures that ensure a four-diamond guest experience.
  • Participate in manager meetings, pre-convention meetings, and departmental planning sessions.
  • Assist with training team members on guest service expectations and tournament execution standards.
  • Support the Director of Golf Operations with budgeting, forecasting, and operational planning as requested.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Performance Expectations
  • Achieve annual tournament and outing revenue goals.
  • Meet established lead conversion ratios.
  • Generate a minimum number of qualified sales calls, site tours, and prospect meetings monthly.
  • Increase repeat tournament and outing business year over year.
  • Grow golf-related ancillary revenue including merchandise, instruction, rentals, and food & beverage spend.
  • Maintain guest satisfaction scores that meet or exceed resort standards.

Qualifications:
Education: College degree preferred.
Experience: Prior golf operations, golf sales, tournament coordination, or hospitality leadership experience required. Experience with revenue management, team supervision, and guest service standards strongly preferred.

  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to train, coach, motivate, and supervise a service-focused team.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive revenue through sales efforts, upselling, tournament planning, and guest relationship building.

  • Ability to use moderately complex computer systems and troubleshoot software issues related to reservations, point of sale, scheduling, and reporting.
