Job description

Status: Seasonal

SUMMARY
Under supervision performs a wide range of daily golf course maintenance duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Attentive, alert, on time, properly attired, and ready to receive instruction promptly at the beginning of shift.
    • At the end of shift, complete daily log sheet to include Daily Standards and break log check off.
    • Operates most equipment used in course maintenance.
    • Riding mowers: fairway, approach, rough (small, intermediate, large).
    • Walking mowers: green, tee, collar.
    • Restricted use equipment: topdressers (walking, pull behind), tractors, loaders.
    • Small machinery: edger, string trimmer, flymow, chainsaw, backpack blower.
    • Capable and proper use of hand tools/equipment.
    • Involved in course detail tasks: weed and debris clean-up, poa eradication, edge cart paths/tees, etc.
    • Chemical applications: hose handler or sprayer.
    • Maintains equipment fluid levels: gasoline or diesel, oil, etc. (throughout the day).
    • Reports equipment problems/failures to the mechanic immediately and completes correct paperwork.
    • Perform daily equipment repair and maintenance as directed by Head Mechanic.
    • Ensures that all equipment used is washed properly, returned to designated location and charging if applicable.
    • Maintain proper radio etiquette and return radios to chargers when finished.
    • Performs bunker maintenance: includes adding sand, establishing a hard edge, and operation of mechanical rake.
    • Participates in irrigation practices: hand watering, syringing.
    • Planting and maintenance of vegetative material.
    • Transporting material.
    • May lead small groups.
    • Available for overtime as needed.
    • Incorporates safe work practices in job performance.
    • Regular and reliable attendance.
    • Maintains a professional standard at Juniper Preserve including, but not limited to, appearance, interaction with members, associates, guests of the club, verbal discussions and written correspondence. Does not discuss work related issues with members and resort guests.
    • Maintains positive attitude and the flexibility to take on new and different tasks as assigned by the Director of Agronomy, Golf Course Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent, Head Mechanic, Assistant Mechanic or Foreman.
