Starting Pay: $17 - $80 Hour, plus Commission (Total Anticipated Compensation Up To: $80,000.00)

Position Status: Part-Time, with Full-Time Potential, Hourly, Seasonal, Non-Exempt

Reports To: Director of Operations

Where You Will Work

Set within a scenic natural floodplain, Heron Lakes offers 36 holes of championship golf designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr. and Jr., supporting high daily play with a grass-tee range and clubhouse dining.

What You'll Do

Provide one-on-one and group lessons to golfers of all ages and skill levels, tailoring instruction to meet the specific needs of each student. Lead and coach junior programming including:

  • Summer Camps
  • PGA Jr. League teams
  • Junior clinics and development series
  • On-course playing lessons
  • Tournament preparation and competitive coaching
  • Design age-appropriate curriculum and structured skill-development pathways for junior participants.
  • Lead adult programs including beginner classes, improvement series, women’s clinics, and specialty instruction.
  • Utilize modern teaching aids including video analysis, launch monitors, and swing technology to enhance the instructional experience.
  • Communicate effectively with parents regarding schedules, progress, and program expectations.
  • Assist in designing, promoting, and executing junior and adult programming to drive participation and retention.
  • Maintain accurate lesson schedules, student records, and communication through scheduling platforms.
  • Greet guests with excellent customer service and assist them with their needs in the golf shop when scheduled.
  • Process sales transactions including retail items, greens fees, cart rentals, and lesson bookings when assigned to shop shifts.
  • Maintain accurate cash handling procedures when applicable.
  • Be knowledgeable of golf shop merchandise and services.
  • Manage tee sheet reservations and answer phone inquiries regarding lessons, tee times, and facility services.
  • Promote golf events, lessons, and junior programming to guests to encourage repeat visits and community engagement.
  • Support golf operations during busy times, including tournaments, outings, and special events.
  • Interact with coworkers and guests in a congenial and professional manner.
  • Maintain a pleasant and professional telephone manner at all times.
  • Assess the quality of internal and external customer service and recommend improvements.
  • Assure the efficient and timely submission of required reports.
  • Perform additional duties as required

Ideal Candidate

  • PGA Member or Associate in good standing preferred (or actively pursuing membership).
  • Minimum 2 years teaching or coaching experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience working with junior golfers in camps, clinics, or league formats required.
  • Experience leading PGA Jr. League or similar structured junior programs preferred.
  • Proven knowledge of swing mechanics and modern instructional tools.
  • Proficiency with technology including scheduling platforms, video analysis software, and spreadsheets.
  • Capable of engaging with a wide range of students, from beginners to competitive players.
  • Demonstrated written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to analyze and solve problems effectively.
  • Ability to efficiently handle multiple duties under pressure with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and a 6-day workweek during peak season.
  • Positive attitude, professional manner, and appearance in all situations.
