Racine Country Club is a private, 18-hole country club featuring a championship golf course, full-service clubhouse, dining, pool, and tennis facilities. We take pride in maintaining high standards of course conditioning and providing an exceptional experience for our members and guests.
Position Overview
Racine Country Club is seeking a motivated and knowledgeable Assistant Golf Course Superintendent to support the Golf Course Superintendent in all aspects of golf course and grounds maintenance. This year-round position plays a key role in executing daily maintenance operations, supervising staff, and helping maintain exceptional course conditions. The Assistant Superintendent works closely with the Superintendent, Owner, and Golf Professional to ensure consistent playability, appearance, and safety across the property.
This role is ideal for a turf professional looking to continue developing leadership skills and advance toward a future Superintendent position.
Responsibilities
  • Assist the Golf Course Superintendent in planning and executing daily, weekly, and seasonal maintenance programs.
  • Supervise, train, and schedule grounds crew in the absence of or under the direction of the Superintendent.
  • Participate in maintaining greens, tees, fairways, bunkers, and roughs to high standards.
  • Assist with irrigation system operation, troubleshooting, and minor repairs.
  • Help manage fertilizer and chemical applications following IPM and safety guidelines.
  • Monitor turf conditions and report issues or recommendations to the Superintendent.
  • Collaborate with Golf Operations on course setup, tournaments, and daily play conditions.
  • Assist with equipment operation, maintenance oversight, and inventory control.
  • Support snow removal operations for clubhouse, parking areas, and grounds during winter months.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and best management practices.
Qualifications
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Agronomy, Turfgrass Management, or a related field preferred.
  • 3-6 years of experience in golf course maintenance, preferably in an Assistant Superintendent or supervisory role.
  • Wisconsin Pesticide Applicator’s License (or ability to obtain within 90 days of employment).
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Strong knowledge of cool-season turfgrass management and irrigation systems.
  • Ability to lead and motivate staff while working effectively as part of a management team.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
