Job description

Job Description

The King and Prince Golf Club is entering a defining new chapter, and we are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Head Golf Course Mechanic to support it.

Located on St. Simons Island, The King and Prince Golf Club is rooted in coastal Georgia and shaped by tidal marshes, live oaks, and the easy rhythm of island life. Following a transformative renovation led by Beau Welling Design, the club will reopen as a refined private golf experience centered on connection, craftsmanship, and coastal ease.

This is a rare opportunity to lead and establish the equipment maintenance operation of a modern coastal private club from the ground up, thoughtfully, intentionally, and with pride in the details that define exceptional golf conditions.

The Opportunity

As Head Golf Course Mechanic, you will oversee the maintenance, repair, and performance of all golf course equipment.

You will work closely with the Golf Course Superintendent and agronomy team to ensure that all equipment operates at the highest level, supporting consistency, efficiency, and the overall quality of the golf experience. Your role will be both technical and leadership-oriented, setting standards and creating systems that ensure long-term success.

This is not simply a mechanical role. It is an opportunity to take ownership of the equipment operation and the standards that support exceptional course conditions.

What Makes This Role Unique

  • The opportunity to lead equipment operations for a newly renovated private golf club
  • A course shaped by Beau Welling Design, where conditioning and presentation are central to the experience
  • A setting defined by marshland, live oaks, and coastal ecology, where attention to detail matters
  • Direct collaboration with an agronomy team focused on excellence
  • The ability to establish maintenance standards, systems, and workflows from the ground up
  • A chance to play a foundational role in delivering a premier golf environment

Key Responsibilities

Equipment Maintenance & Repair

  • Oversee the inspection, diagnosis, and repair of all golf course maintenance equipment, including mowers, utility vehicles, and small engines
  • Perform and manage preventative maintenance programs to ensure optimal performance and longevity
  • Lead reel grinding, sharpening, and adjustment of cutting units to maintain precision turf quality
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance schedules, repairs, and parts inventory

Operational Leadership

  • Ensure all equipment is prepared, safe, and available for daily use by the agronomy team
  • Establish shop organization, workflows, and operational standards
  • Assist in evaluating equipment needs, lifecycle planning, and replacement schedules
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient maintenance facility

Standards & Safety

  • Uphold safety standards and proper operating procedures across all equipment
  • Ensure all equipment meets operational and safety expectations
  • Support training of staff on proper equipment use and care
  • Contribute to a culture of accountability, consistency, and attention to detail

The Kind of Leader We Are Looking For

The ideal candidate is dependable, precise, and takes pride in their craft. You understand that great course conditions begin with well-maintained equipment and disciplined daily preparation.

You lead through consistency and example, bringing organization and structure to your work. You are self-directed, detail-oriented, and committed to supporting the team behind the scenes.

Excellence does not need to be visible to be felt. The results should speak for themselves.

Experience & Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in golf course equipment maintenance or small engine repair
  • Demonstrated ability to lead or manage an equipment operation
  • Strong knowledge of diesel and gasoline engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems
  • Experience with reel grinding and cutting unit setup required
  • Welding and fabrication experience preferred
  • Valid driverโ€™s license required

About The King and Prince Golf Club

The King and Prince Golf Club brings people together through golf and shared experiences, creating a community that connects members to each other, to nature, and to the easy joy of island life.

The renovated course, led by Beau Welling Design, reflects the spirit of St. Simons Island, relaxed, inviting, and quietly exceptional in its setting, while remaining closely tied to the heritage and hospitality of The King and Prince Beach & Golf Resort.

The Head Golf Course Mechanic will play a critical role in supporting the clubโ€™s future, ensuring that the equipment behind the game performs at the highest level, and that the standards of The King and Prince Golf Club are upheld each day.
