Job description

PSR Specialist

Under the direct supervision of the Practice Manager or Program Coordinator, the PSR Specialist confers with incoming and outgoing patients/visitors, assisting them as needed at all New Horizon sites. The PSR directs patients/visitors to appropriate locations throughout the office; interacts with patients/visitors in a courteous, appropriate, respectful manner at all times and without exception. This position maintains accuracy from start to finish of the registration and payment collection process. This position performs the following duties in accordance with the established policy and procedures of New Horizon Family Health Services.

Assists newly hired PSRs to develop their skills while adapting to established organizational procedures and healthcare regulations that support high-quality patient interactions.

Responsible for training and developing staff in the effective use of the approved EHR system across both primary care and dental sites.

Expected to participate in, and work with the HR Director and Practice Management Director in staff development programs required by NHFHS and area of practice.

The PSR Specialist will assist with designing, delivering, and maintaining training programs for new and existing PSRs. The PSR Specialist is responsible for training PSRs on patient intake, appointment scheduling, registration, and check-in/check-out procedure.

The PSR Specialist will provide refresher training and updates when processes, systems, or policies change.

The PSR Specialist shall perform a variety of tasks and related duties as required and outlined in the New Horizon Family Health Services, Inc. Patient Service Representative Position Description.

The PSR Specialist will be expected to cover all New Horizon sites based on coverage needs.

Must obey all established safety and driving / transportation rules and requirements before, during and after traveling to various sites.

Performs services on an assigned basis at places and times as directed by the supervisor and Practice Manager at each site.

Education:

Required: Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent. Working knowledge of an Electronic Health Record (EHR).

Preferred: Medical Office Training Certificate or other relevant education.

Experience:

Required: Customer service experience. Two (2) years experience in a medical office or other healthcare facility setting.
