The Global Sustainability Manager will serve as the centralized owner of our sustainability and environmental compliance strategy across all markets iHerb operates in. This role will lead our response to the rapidly evolving global regulatory landscape, including Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR), the EU Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD), and related environmental frameworks, ensuring timely registration, reporting, and compliance across jurisdictions while partnering closely with Legal, Operations, Marketing, and Merchandising teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategy & Ownership: Serve as the centralized, global owner of sustainability and environmental compliance strategy across all markets iHerb operates in.

  • Regulatory Monitoring: Monitor and interpret emerging global sustainability legislation (EPR, CSRD, EU Deforestation Regulation, and equivalent regional frameworks) and translate requirements into actionable business plans.

  • EPR & Reporting Management: Manage Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) registration, reporting, and fee obligations across applicable jurisdictions, including coordination with Producer Responsibility Organizations (PROs).

  • Data Systems Governance: Direct team members and partner cross-functionally with Operations and Product teams to establish accurate packaging data tracking systems (materials, weights, volumes) for regulatory compliance.

  • SOPs & Standards: Establish team operating standards and govern the creation and maintenance of internal SOPs, compliance workflows, and deadline-tracking systems.

  • Stakeholder Representation: Act as the primary point of contact with regulators, trade associations, and compliance schemes on sustainability matters.

  • Risk Guidance: Provide proactive guidance to Legal, Operations, Marketing, and Merchandising on sustainability-driven regulatory risk.

  • Internal Capability Building: Reduce reliance on outside counsel/consultants by building internal subject-matter expertise.

  • Resource & Operational Planning: Adapt departmental plans and prioritize work assignments to address evolving global regulatory deadlines, capacity constraints, and operational challenges.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Regulatory Affairs, or a related field.

  • Experience: 7-10 years of experience in global sustainability, ESG, or environmental regulatory compliance, ideally spanning multiple regions (EU, US, APAC).

  • Regulatory Knowledge: Strong working knowledge of EPR frameworks, CSRD, EU Taxonomy, and comparable US state-level packaging/EPR laws.

  • Reporting Expertise: Demonstrated experience managing multi-jurisdiction regulatory registrations and reporting cycles.

  • Communication: Strong cross-functional communication skills; comfortable presenting risk and compliance topics to senior leadership.

  • Industry Preference: Experience working in retail, CPG, e-commerce, or a comparable regulated consumer products environment preferred.

Compensation:

The expected salary range for this role is 110,000.00 USD. The actual base pay offered will be determined by factors such as the candidate's relevant experience, education, geographic location, and internal equity.

If you like wild growth and working with happy, enthusiastic over-achievers, you'll enjoy your career with us!
