This is a hybrid role requiring on-site presence Tuesday through Thursday, with remote work available Monday and Friday.
This is an exciting opportunity to join Agilent's IT EPS SAP Services and Digital Integrations organization as SAP BASIS / BTP Technical Platform Lead.
As part of a high-performance global IT organization, this role is responsible for leading the SAP Technical Platform Delivery and Operations, including SAP ECC, S/4HANA, BTP, and associated platforms. The position plays a critical role in ensuring secure, scalable, and resilient SAP landscape operations, while driving cloud adoption, automation, and AI-led operational excellence.
You will lead a global partner team and partner with business, delivery, and infrastructure teams to deliver high availability, performance optimization, and continuous innovation across SAP platforms. This role aligns with Agilent's IT System Design & Implementation - Expert Job Family, contributing to enterprise-wide digital transformation and modernization initiatives. The role demands strong leadership, deep technical expertise, and the ability to drive operational excellence across global SAP environments.
Primary responsibilities:
  • Lead and mentor a global team of SAP BASIS and BTP administrators ensuring 24x7 support coverage.
  • Own end-to-end SAP platform operations including installation, configuration, upgrades, patching, and system refresh activities across ECC, S/4HANA, BW, GTS E4H, MES, and BTP environments.
  • Drive system reliability, availability, and performance through proactive monitoring and governance.
  • Administer SAP BTP landscape including subaccount setup, entitlements, user management, security configuration, and service provisioning.
  • Lead SAP technical architecture decisions for hybrid and cloud-native environments (RISE, hyperscalers).
  • Drive adoption of AIOps for SAP operations (predictive monitoring, anomaly detection, auto-remediation).
  • Implement automation for repetitive BASIS operations (system health checks, patching, job management).
  • Leverage AI/ML tools for incident prediction, root cause analysis (RCA), and performance optimization.
  • Introduce intelligent monitoring dashboards and self-healing mechanisms across SAP landscape.
  • Enable integration of SAP operations with enterprise observability platforms.
  • Ensure high availability through HA/DR design (HANA replication, clustering, failover strategies).
  • Monitor and optimize system performance, database health, and infrastructure utilization.
  • Own SAP technical security including SSO & MFA, certificates, identity management, and compliance audits.
  • Ensure adherence to ITGC, SOX controls, and enterprise cybersecurity policies.
  • Lead cloud connectivity (SAP Cloud Connector, Integration Suite, APIs).
  • Support enterprise integrations across SAP and non-SAP platforms.
  • Act as escalation point for major incidents and ensure executive-level communication.
  • Partner with SAP, cloud providers, and vendors for upgrades and innovation initiatives.
  • Support large transformation programs including S/4HANA migration and BTP adoption.
  • Manage SAP transport management system (TMS), ChaRM integration, and release governance processes.
  • Provide technical documentation, knowledge transfer, and training to internal teams and stakeholders.

Good to have:
  • Strong understanding of ITIL-based Service Delivery and Service Management practices.
  • Knowledge of AI/ML-based monitoring or AIOps tools for enterprise platforms.
  • Experience with SAP ALM tools (Solution Manager, Focused Run, Cloud ALM).
  • Exposure to SAP Rise, GTS, Ariba, and cross-platform integrations.
  • Experience with DevOps tools (CI/CD pipelines, GitHub, Jenkins).
  • Experience with SAP RISE, hyperscaler-native services (Azure/AWS/GCP).
  • Familiarity with automation tools and scripting (Shell, Python, PowerShell).
  • Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.

Qualifications
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in SAP BASIS / Technical Platform management.
  • Proven experience leading global SAP platform operations and engineering teams.
  • SAP certifications in BASIS, S/4HANA, or SAP BTP.
  • Deep expertise in SAP ECC, S/4HANA, SAP HANA DB, and OS platforms (Linux/Unix/Windows).
  • Hands-on experience with SAP BTP (Cloud Foundry, Kyma, Integration Suite, Identity services).
  • Strong experience in SAP upgrades, migrations, and S/4HANA conversion programs.
  • Expertise in HANA administration (backup/recovery, tuning, replication).
  • Experience with cloud migrations and hybrid SAP landscapes.
  • Exposure to automation, scripting (Shell, Python), and AI-enabled operational tools.
  • Strong understanding of SAP security, network architecture, and connectivity.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and executive communication skills.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive transformation initiatives.
  • Proficient in documentation and tooling (PowerPoint, Visio, ServiceNow, monitoring tools, etc.).

The full-time equivalent pay range for this position is $127,680.00 - $199,500.00/yr plus eligibility for bonus, stock and benefits. Our pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
