Overview & Responsibilities

PURPOSE OF THE JOB

The job exists to ensure that the company operates at a standard of quality that exceeds our customers expectations. Position is primarily responsible for the global development of quality systems and shares with operations management the implementation of ISO and Quality solutions to ensure facility compliance and the consistent use of "best practices" This position works closely with other management groups worldwide and outside contractors in this process and provides direction and support as well as monitoring for results. The position is also directly responsible for Jeannette business units quality operations and assurance teams, directs Americas Service Center Quality Management Systems for compliance and maintenance of ISO business systems, and providing feedback and direction for improvement. The position is responsible for the approval of suppliers regarding quality management systems and for technical coordination of Elliott componentry manufactured by suppliers.

BACKGROUND and EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor of Science degree in quality science, engineering or related field of study.
  • A minimum of 10 years experience in managing the quality function of a manufacturing organization. Global quality management experience is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of ISO 9001, 14000, and 18000 regulations as well as "best practice" quality & inspection standards.


It is preferred to have a general knowledge of:

  • Typical non-destructive testing requirements of turbomachinery including RT, UT, PT, and VT.
  • Turbomachinery or heavy industrial equipment incorporating castings, metal fabrication, machining, assembly and testing.
  • Process Improvement techniques including Six Sigma and LEAN.


NATURE OF THE JOB
This position reports to the Vice President, New Apparatus and acts a chief consultant to the global organization in matters pertaining to quality and ISO. Develops and implements global functional and strategic policies to ensure regulation compliance as well as a safe and healthy work environment for our employees. . Responsible for both short- and long-range solutions and the monitoring of current and proposed ISO regulations.

Duties generally are not limited by existing policies and precedents.

Employee takes initiative to develop and implement strategic and tactical objectives in support of corporate vision.


CONTACT WITH OTHERS
The incumbent has regular contact with all levels of the organization from the President/CEO to hourly employees. The incumbent works with ISO auditors, insurance carriers, and Elliott customers. They also interact with coordinators from other global Elliott facilities on ISO and other quality policies and issues.

Travel is estimated at approximately 10-15% of time and includes supplier and other Elliott locations on a global basis.

SUPERVISION

Person directly supervises the existing Jeannette quality team. Will also coordinate, provide guidance and direction to global quality operations for sharing of best practices, consistency of quality methods, standards, and procedures.


SPECIFIC JOB RESPONSIBILITIES/COMPETENCIES

  • Develops global Elliott quality strategies to support overall corporate objectives.
  • Develops and manages global quality activities in the areas of policy, program consistency, coordination and evaluation.
  • Ensures the audit of operational facilities for ISO compliance.
  • Develops and coordinates the training of employees to increase proficiency and compliance with established ISO and other Quality processes and regulations.
  • Audits global facilities for compliance with Elliott's quality programs.
  • Develops and implements corrective and preventive actions for internal, supplier, and customer-based quality issues and non-conformances.
  • Manage the Elliott Quality Management System to develop, implement, and audit compliance with procedures that invoke Elliott quality requirements.
  • Manages development, qualification, and performance monitoring of Elliott's approved suppliers.
  • Develops and monitors key quality metrics to monitor processes for corrective action as needed.
  • Ensures the availability of Cost of Quality data and its meaningful dissemination throughout the organization and initiates appropriate corrective action.
  • Develops and maintains the annual expense budget and forecasts for all areas of responsibility.
  • Provides direct supervision and responsibility for the Jeannette based quality team.
