Job description


As a Global Payroll Director, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing payroll operations across multiple countries and regions on a global scale. Your primary focus will be on developing and executing the global payroll strategy, ensuring compliance with payroll regulations, driving process improvements, and integrating newly acquired entities into the Company's processes and systems. You will lead a team of payroll professionals, collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders, and provide strategic direction to optimize global payroll operations. This role requires strong leadership skills, extensive knowledge of global payroll practices, and the ability to navigate complex payroll landscapes.
Key Duties:
  • Develop and execute the global payroll strategy, aligning with business objectives and compliance requirements.
  • Oversee end-to-end global payroll operations, ensuring accurate and timely processing for multiple countries and regions.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with local payroll providers and vendors to ensure seamless payroll delivery.
  • Ensure compliance with global payroll regulations, tax laws, and social security requirements in each jurisdiction.
  • Drive process improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and scalability of global payroll operations.
  • Develop and implement global payroll policies, procedures, and controls to ensure consistent practices and compliance.
  • Stay updated with evolving payroll regulations, industry trends, and emerging technologies in global payroll management.
  • Lead and manage a team of payroll professionals, providing guidance, mentorship, and performance feedback.
  • Lead and manage integration of acquired companies
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including HR, stock administration, finance, legal, and IT, to streamline payroll processes and data integration.
  • Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to assess payroll performance and ensure service level agreements (SLAs) are met.
  • Manage relationships with external auditors, tax authorities, and other stakeholders for audits and compliance checks.
  • Lead global payroll projects, such as system implementations, upgrades, and payroll harmonization initiatives.
  • Coordinate year-end payroll processes, including tax reporting, annual statements, and compliance filings globally.
  • Provide strategic guidance and recommendations to senior leadership on payroll-related matters.
  • Stay informed about industry best practices and participate in professional networks or associations to foster knowledge exchange.

Qualifications:
  • Proven experience as a Global Payroll Director or similar leadership role, overseeing global payroll operations.
  • In-depth knowledge of global payroll practices, regulations, tax laws, and compliance requirements across multiple countries and regions.
  • Strong understanding of statutory deductions, tax rates, social security requirements, and benefits regulations globally.
  • Extensive experience in managing relationships with global payroll service providers and vendors.
  • Proficiency in using payroll software or systems for end-to-end global payroll processing.
  • Excellent understanding of HCM and Equity Edge systems and their integration with payroll systems.
  • Excellent understanding of ADP.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills, with the ability to lead and motivate a diverse team.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities to drive process improvements and optimize payroll operations.
  • Strong analytical skills to assess payroll data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions.
  • Ability to navigate complex payroll landscapes, adapt to changing regulations, and manage risks.
  • Understanding of data protection regulations and confidentiality requirements in handling employee information.
  • Proficient in using MS Office applications, particularly Excel, for data analysis and reporting.

  • Continuous learning mindset to stay updated with changes in global payroll regulations and best practices.
  • Relevant certifications in global payroll management or related fields are advantageous. Certification or professional qualification in payroll such as the CIPP Diploma in Payroll Management or related field is advantageous.

Wage ranges are based on various factors including the labor market, job type, and job level. Earnings for this position are expected to be $133,100 - $172,300 Exact salary offers will be determined by factors such as the candidate's subject knowledge, skill level, qualifications, experience, and geographic location.
All roles are eligible to participate in the Fortinet equity program, Bonus eligibility is reviewed at time of hire and annually at the Company's discretion
