Job Description

This role is responsible for implementing, operating, and continuously improving secure, reliable, and cost-effective network services across Olympus’ global environment, in alignment with the strategy defined by Network Services, Global. Reporting to the Sr. Dir., Network Services, Global, the role is accountable for ensuring services, decisions, and operational outcomes remain aligned with global standards, architecture, security requirements, and service governance.

The role translates global network strategy into globally consistent operational execution by driving implementation plans, service decisions, and improvement initiatives across regions, sites, and business environments. It is empowered to make decisions that ensure enterprise-wide delivery success while shaping global standards, service evolution, and future design direction.

Core duties include managing global network operations, coordinating with internal teams and external vendors, and driving service improvement, automation, and scalability across the enterprise. The role works in close partnership with global IT teams and business stakeholders to ensure network services are delivered consistently, securely, and effectively across all supported locations.

Job Duties

Design, implement, and maintain regional network solutions in alignment with the global network architecture and roadmap.
Apply deep technical knowledge to ensure the integrity, security, and performance of network infrastructure, including manufacturing environments up to PLC level.
Conduct detailed technical analysis and validation of new network technologies and changes, including configuration, testing, and deployment.
Contribute to the development refinement and adaptation of global network standards and best practices, ensuring they are scalable, secure, and consistently applied across the enterprise.
Collaborate with the Global Network Service Lead and Enterprise Architecture team in the definition and implementation of scalable, secure, and future-oriented network solutions.

Take responsibility and accountability -
To operate and maintain network infrastructure 
To ensure high availability, performance, and security across all sites in the assigned region and other responsible areas to track performance against predefined SLAs/KPIs and proactively address service gaps or risks. 
To monitor and optimize the health and performance of network components including firewalls, switches, routers, load balancers, VPNs, and proxy systems.
To support routine maintenance tasks such as firmware upgrades, patch management, configuration backups, and capacity planning.
To lead or support root cause analysis and resolution of major network incidents in coordination with global problem managers and external service providers.
To coordinate and oversee the delivery and performance of network-related services provided by service providers.

Act as a regional gatekeeper for enforcing IT security standards and network access controls across all network infrastructure components.
Collaborate with the Global IT Security team to assess risks, manage exceptions, implement mitigation plans and act as expected role in security related projects.
Support network-related audits, incident response activities, and compliance reviews as part of global security governance.
Maintain awareness of emerging threats and support the implementation of security enhancements and incident prevention measures.

Support the execution of the global network and telecom strategy by translating business and technology requirements into actionable plans and ensuring delivery remains aligned with enterprise priorities.
Contribute to continuous service improvement by identifying opportunities for automation, cost reduction, and enhanced user experience.
Participate in network-related project planning, including requirements gathering, solution evaluation, and service transition readiness.
Provide input into the development of multi-year network roadmaps and regional investment planning.
Drive the evolution of network services and designs by identifying operational insights, innovation opportunities, and enterprise needs that inform global standards, roadmap priorities, and future service direction.

Work closely with cross-functional IT teams (Regional infrastructure, security, applications), business units including department specific IT, and external service providers to ensure seamless integration and operation of network services.
Serve as a regional subject matter expert for network infrastructure and act as an escalation point for complex technical issues.
Mentor junior engineers and contribute to team knowledge development and documentation of procedures and standards

Job Requirements

Must have:

•    10+ years of experience in the field of IT.
•    3+ years of experience in network team in an environment similar in size and complexity to Olympus (50+ locations, 10,000+ employees).
•    Demonstrable knowledge of IT infrastructure products, services and techniques required to support effective technology infrastructures.
•    Excellent knowledge of ITIL processes.
•    Experience in network operations, working with external global service providers and working according to ITIL service management processes.
•    Experience in delivering complex global projects and organizational changes in a multi-national company.
•    Available to travel 
•    English spoken (advance)
•    Valid VISA and Passport 

Nice to have:
•    Experience in the medical industry or directly in a Life Science Healthcare Company.
•    3+ years of experience in a manufacturing company which has R&D and production factories
•    Demonstrates deep understanding of Japanese culture, social norms, and business practices. Apply this knowledge to build trust, navigate complex stakeholder environments, and ensure effective communication and execution within the local context. Balances global requirements with cultural sensitivities to support successful regional implementation of global strategies.


Certifications (Preferred but not mandatory)
•    Project/Service: PMP or PRINCE2; ITIL v4 Foundation or higher.
•    Networking: Cisco CCNP/CCIE, Juniper JNCIP/JNCIE, or equivalent.
•    Cloud: AWS Advanced Networking, Azure Network Engineer, or similar
