The Network Engineering team designs, automates, and supports the global network powering Akamai\'s products and services. Using advanced technologies, the team ensures optimal connectivity and performance for customers and the compute platform.

Partner with the best

As a Network Engineer II, you will lead efforts in designing and implementing a global network infrastructure. You\'ll play a key role in developing operational standards while addressing complex issues in routing and data center fabrics. Your work will ensure scalability, reliability, and security across a multi-vendor environment.

As a Network Engineer II, you will be responsible for:

  • Designing, building, and maintaining our global network infrastructure.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to define data models and functional requirements.
  • Configuring BGP and troubleshooting for complex peering relationships
  • Implementing new hardware platforms and network features within the automation framework.
  • Acting as a subject matter expert and final point of escalation for production network issues.
  • Creating and maintaining clear documentation & procedures.

Do what you love

To be successful in this role you will:

  • Have 5 years relevant experience and a Bachelor\'s degree in Computer Science or its equivalent experience
  • Demonstrate experience in IP network design and implementation of scalable BGP routing architecture.
  • Understand Data Center architecture, including CLOS Fabric and overlay technologies such as VxLAN and EVPN.
  • Have experience in managing and troubleshooting multi-vendor environments like Juniper, Cisco & routing platforms like BIRD, FRR and Cumulus.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of end-to-end data flows and traffic patterns
  • Be a highly organized self-starter who is comfortable working with cross-functional teams

Compensation

Akamai is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. For US based candidates only - the base salary for this position ranges from $88,900 - $160,100/year; a candidate’s salary is determined by various factors including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and location. Compensation for candidates outside the US will vary. The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of annual bonus or incentives, equity awards and an Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP).
