Job description

We are looking for a highly motivated Finance Intern to join the finance team of a growing SaaS scale-up. Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, this role offers hands-on exposure to the financial operations of a company moving through its next stage of growth.  This is an opportunity to work closely with senior leadership, contribute to real finance projects, and learn how financial planning, reporting, and analysis support decision-making in a fast-paced, scaling business.

As a Boston-based Co-op, you will commit to a minimum of 15 or up to 32 hours per week.  The ability to work in our Boston office a few days a week is important as you will sit alongside and collaborate with senior leaders and key Shifters. Your specific hours per week, in-office and weekly work schedule will be discussed and aligned directly with the CFO and HR to fit your academic requirements and our business needs.

What Your Impact Looks Like

At Shift, we value ownership from day one. In this role, you will:

  • Support the CFO with financial analysis, reporting, and ad hoc business projects
  • Help maintain and update data, financial models, dashboards, and internal reports
  • Organize, clean, and analyze data using Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets
  • Assist as needed with core FP&A and Accounting tasks
  • Prepare presentations and reports using Google Slides, Google Docs, and related tools
  • Support process improvements and projects across finance, accounting, and operations
  • Conduct research and benchmarking as needed
What You'll Need to Succeed

We are looking for a Shifter who is...

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or Business, and eager to apply classroom theory to high-growth SaaS operations.
  • Highly proficient with Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets, specifically using formulas, pivot tables, and lookups to organize large datasets.  Exploring the use of AI to complement traditional data analysis tools.
  • Detail-Oriented, analytical and committed to accuracy in financial reporting and metrics while keeping critical data private and secure
  • Growth-Minded and a self-starter: curious, resourceful, and willing to take ownership
  • Collaborative: Eager to participate in team rituals, ask thoughtful questions, and share knowledge-sharing habits with global colleagues.
  • Adaptable & Impact-Driven: Thrives in a fast-moving environment where priorities evolve. You are comfortable diving into large or imperfect data sets to uncover actionable insights without waiting for perfect direction.
  • Boston-Based: Lives in or near the Boston area and is excited to join our physical workplace community.
  • Available to dedicate at least 15 hours per week as part of an official university co-op or internship program.
  • Interested in SaaS, technology, startups, scale-ups, or subscription business models
  • Compensation is a fixed amount of $1,400/ month
