Job description

Job Title:- Business System Analyst Global Custody Application

Location:- Midtown, New York (ONLY NY/NJ RESIDENTS WHO CAN COMMUTE TO MIDTOWN, MANHATTAN ARE APPLICABLE) Hybrid

Duration:- long term (Candidates willing to relocate are not acceptable)

No Visa restrictions, in-person interview is required.

Summary

The Business System Analyst will be responsible for building, enhancing, and maintaining an application that supports the firm's global custody platform, FX transactions and data lifecycle, ensuring robust operations, regulatory compliance, and high-quality client experience.

The role bridges business, operations, and technology, translating custody requirements into effective system functionality.

Key Responsibilities

Gather, analyze, and document business requirements for global custody application changes and new features (e.g., corporate actions, reconciliation, client reporting).

Map and maintain "as-is" and "to-be" business processes and workflows across multiple markets and asset classes.

Translate business needs into clear functional and non-functional specifications, user stories, and acceptance criteria.

Partner with operations, products, IT, and external vendors to design and implement scalable solutions for the global custody system.

Support application configuration, data validation, and integration with upstream/downstream systems related to trade capture, settlement, asset servicing, and reporting.

Define and execute test plans and test cases; support SIT/UAT, defect triage, and sign-off, ensuring high-quality releases into production.

Maintain a reusable library of test cases and business rules for key custody functions. Monitor production issues, perform root-cause analysis, and drive continuous improvement of system stability, controls, and efficiency.

Ensure alignment with regulatory, risk, and compliance requirements relevant to global custody operations.

Prepare user guides, process documentation, and training materials for operations and other business users.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in finance, Business, Information Systems, or related field.

7+ years of experience as a Business Systems Analyst in financial services, preferably in custody, securities services, or post-trade operations.

Solid understanding of global custody concepts such as settlement, corporate actions, income processing, safekeeping, reconciliations, and client reporting.

Demonstrated experience in requirements gathering, process mapping, and writing BRDs, FRDs, or user stories.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to perform root-cause analysis and propose pragmatic solutions.

Experience working in an Agile or hybrid project environment with tools ServiceNow.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Visio/diagramming tools) for analysis and documentation.

Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work across operations, technology, and external partners.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with a global custody platform, FX, or asset servicing system (e.g., Broadridge or similar).

Knowledge of ISO message formats (e.g., ISO 15022/20022) and SWIFT messages used in securities and custody processing.

Experience in processing automation, dashboards, or data analysis tools.

Familiarity with regulatory requirements affecting custody operations in major markets.

Basic understanding of SQL or data querying for analysis and validation.
