Job description

Job Title: Maintenance Technician (Part-Time)
Location: United Skates of Indianapolis formerly Fun Factory -Indianapolis, IN
Pay: $25.00 per hour
Schedule: Approximately 10-15 hours per week (flexible schedule including evenings and weekends)
Position Summary:
United Skates of Indianapolis formerly Fun Factory is seeking a reliable, hands-on Maintenance Technician to help keep our facility clean, safe, and operating smoothly. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working independently, takes pride in their work, and can handle a variety of maintenance and upkeep tasks both inside and outside the building.
The Maintenance Technician will perform both planned and unplanned maintenance tasks throughout the facility and assist in maintaining company cleanliness and safety standards at all times.
Key Responsibilities
Facility Maintenance
  • Perform routine inspections of the building and address minor repairs
  • Handle basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and general maintenance tasks
  • Replace lighting, perform touch-up painting, and maintain fixtures
  • Ensure restrooms are clean, stocked, and in good working condition
  • Maintain walls, carpets, roof areas, glass, and other building components according to company standards

Skating Rink & Equipment
  • Clean and maintain the skating floor to ensure a safe skating surface
  • Perform minor repairs to the skating surface
  • Inspect rink barriers, railings, and safety padding
  • Assist with skate rental upkeep, including cleaning and minor repairs

Cleaning & Sanitation
  • Sweep, mop, and maintain cleanliness throughout the facility
  • Sanitize high-touch surfaces and common areas
  • Maintain party rooms, seating areas, and guest spaces
  • Ensure dumpster and waste areas are clean and organized

Mechanical & Systems Support
  • Monitor HVAC systems and change filters and belts as needed
  • Assist with lighting, sound systems, and general equipment upkeep
  • Support maintenance of the facility's light show and entertainment systems

Arcade & Entertainment Areas
  • Perform basic cleaning and minor troubleshooting of arcade games
  • Report equipment issues requiring additional repair or service

Outdoor Grounds Maintenance
  • Keep parking lots and walkways clean and free of debris
  • Perform basic landscaping duties including mowing, trimming, and weed control
  • Maintain exterior lighting and overall building appearance

Safety & Compliance
  • Maintain a safe environment for guests and staff
  • Ensure exits, fire extinguishers, and safety equipment are accessible and functioning properly
  • Identify and report potential hazards promptly

Additional Duties
  • Assist with event setup and breakdown
  • Move equipment and support special projects as needed
  • Perform additional duties as assigned based on facility needs

Qualifications
  • Previous maintenance, janitorial, or facility experience preferred
  • Basic knowledge of construction, carpentry, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems preferred
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
  • Comfortable performing physical tasks including lifting, bending, standing, and climbing ladders
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Reliable, detail-oriented, and safety-conscious
  • Must be at least 18 years old
