Job description

The Group Benefits Representative is responsible for new sales, retention and general sales with a primary focus on Delta Dental of Idaho’s small and medium commercial group business target, represented by our Community and School Pools. This blended role is key to our company mission, serving the state’s fast growing business segment of small and medium businesses and schools. Under the direction and coaching of the Sales Account Executive, the Group Benefits Representative will oversee in-office processing and management of the small group segment of Community and School pool sales and renewals through appointed producers. They will also develop trusted relationships with brokers focused on this segment of business, discovering and training new brokers on the differentiated value of Delta Dental of Idaho.

To be successful in this role, you must demonstrate a high level of professionalism in all business communications that represent Delta Dental to the public. Excellent interpersonal skills to develop and maintain successful working relationships are key to this position. Ideal candidates will be competitive, motivated, collaborative, and have exceptional relationship building skills.

Essential Functions:

  • Respond to and fulfill Community & School Pool sales opportunities within an assigned geographic territory and provide sales and service support to brokers and groups. Retain existing clients preparing annual renewal options, working with underwriting as necessary and offering recommendations to clients based on analysis of clients’ insurance needs.
  • Source, update and educate brokers selling our products; provide resources and information to help brokers promote the Company’s differentiated value, network strength and oral health and wellness focus.
  • Actively promote the Company’s dental and oral wellness programs to groups offering our benefit plans on a voluntary basis, to increase plan participation and revenue from existing clients.
  • Maintain knowledge of new and existing DDID and competitor products, industry trends, new product information. Gather and report competitive information to product management.
  • Maintain accurate and timely group, broker, prospect, and sales activity information in CRM and sales tracking systems.
  • Utilize approved technology and AI-enabled tools to improve productivity, customer service, communication, data accuracy, and sales process efficiency while maintaining compliance with company policies and data privacy requirements.
  • Ensure credibility with clients by remaining informed regarding industry information, new product information, legislative changes, coverage, and technology.
  • Act as liaison and sales team lead to other DDID departments as assigned by VP of Sales.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to the organization’s core values, code of ethics, and compliance/security standards.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required. Some college preferred.
  • Experience in health or dental insurance industry preferred.
  • Must possess or obtain an Idaho producer license in Health & Disability via the state insurance exam within 30 days of employment.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Teams), including AI-enabled tools, and the ability to learn and effectively utilize proprietary software systems.
  • Maintain a valid driver’s license and a good driving record.
  • Ability to travel on a limited, as needed.
  • Strong skills related to motivation, initiative and collaboration.
  • Strong, professional written and verbal communication skills as well as the ability explain complicated technical issues.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to build and maintain effective work relationships and work with a diverse group of people.
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
  • Demonstrate excellent problem solving and organization skills.
  • Sitting/Standing (alternatively) continuously.
  • Keyboard Use/Repetitive Hand motion continuously.
  • Skill/ability related to comprehension, organization, reasoning/decision-making and communication appropriate to a sales position with customer facing duties.
