About the Role
As a Sr. Developer, you will make an impact by designing and delivering scalable, cloud-native applications leveraging Java, Spring Boot, Kubernetes, GraphQL, and emerging AI-assisted development capabilities. You will be a valued member of the Engineering team and work collaboratively with architects, product owners, DevOps engineers, business stakeholders, and fellow developers to build reliable, secure, and high-performing enterprise solutions while driving innovation through LLMs and Microsoft GitHub Copilot.
In This Role, You Will
  • Design and develop scalable microservices and cloud-native applications using Java, Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, Kubernetes, and GraphQL.
  • Build secure, high-performance APIs and integration services that support enterprise business capabilities and digital transformation initiatives.
  • Leverage LLM concepts, prompt engineering techniques, and Microsoft GitHub Copilot to improve development efficiency and solution quality.
  • Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines, observability frameworks, and deployment automation to ensure reliable software delivery.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality solutions while promoting cloud-native and AI-assisted development best practices.
Work Model

Based on this role's business requirements, this is a hybrid position requiring 3 or more days per week in a client or Cognizant office in Hopkins, MN or Irving, TX. This position is not eligible for remote work.

What You Need to Have to Be Considered
  • 6-10 years of experience in enterprise application development.
  • Strong proficiency in Java, Spring Boot, and Spring Cloud.
  • Hands-on experience designing and deploying microservices-based applications.
  • Experience with Kubernetes, Istio, API Gateway, and GraphQL.
  • Practical experience with Microsoft GitHub Copilot, prompt engineering, or Large Language Model (LLM)-based development concepts.
  • Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins.
  • Strong knowledge of NoSQL databases and PL/SQL development.
  • Experience with JavaScript development and frontend-to-backend integrations.
  • Understanding of software architecture, secure coding practices, and performance optimization techniques.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
These Will Help You Stand Out
  • Experience in Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) domains.
  • Knowledge of cloud-native observability, monitoring, and service mesh technologies.
  • Experience implementing AI-powered developer productivity solutions.
  • Kubernetes Certified Application Developer (CKAD) certification.
  • Certified Java Developer or related cloud-native development certifications.
  • Experience mentoring team members and driving engineering best practices.
Certifications Required
Preferred certifications include Kubernetes Certified Application Developer and Certified Java Developer, or equivalent cloud-native and enterprise development credentials.

Salary and Other Compensation

The annual salary for this position is between $90,000 - $102,500 depending on experience and qualifications.
This position is also eligible for Cognizant's discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to plan terms.
