Overview
The Microsoft Browser team within Microsoft AI Experiences is building the world's best browser and the next generation of enterprise experiences.
We are looking for engineers passionate about creating secure, scalable, and intelligent microservices that help organizations manage both Microsoft Edge browser experiences and Microsoft 365 Copilot at enterprise scale. Our mission is to improve enterprise manageability, security posture, and productivity through cloud-scale solutions that serve IT administrators and end users worldwide.
As a Senior Software Engineer, you will play a key role in shaping the architecture, design, and evolution of Microsoft Edge Management Services (and Copilot App management soon). You will work across browser, service, and platform teams to build secure, scalable, and reliable cloud services while influencing technical direction and engineering excellence across the organization.
You will help define the future of enterprise Browser/Copilot management and AI-powered productivity experiences used by customers around the world. This role offers opportunities to drive architecture, influence product direction, mentor engineers, and deliver solutions at Microsoft scale while working closely with teams across Edge, Microsoft 365, Azure, and Microsoft AI Experiences.

Starting January 26, 2026, Microsoft AI (MAI) employees who live within a 50- mile commute of a designated Microsoft office in the U.S. or 25-mile commute of a non-U.S., country-specific location are expected to work from the office at least four days per week. This expectation is subject to local law and may vary by jurisdiction.
Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and operate cloud-scale services powering Microsoft Edge management service and Microsoft Copilot App management.
  • Drive architecture and technical design for multi-tenant, highly available, and secure distributed systems.
  • Build and integrate services across Microsoft Edge, Microsoft 365, and Azure ecosystems to deliver end-to-end customer solutions.
  • Lead engineering efforts from concept through deployment, including design reviews, implementation, testing, monitoring, and live-site operations.
  • Collaborate across partner teams to define technical strategy, align dependencies, and deliver cohesive customer experiences.
  • Analyze reliability, scalability, performance, and security challenges, and drive long-term architectural improvements.
  • Mentor engineers through technical guidance, design reviews, and engineering best practices.
  • Leverage telemetry, customer feedback, and operational insights to continuously improve product quality and customer satisfaction.
  • Contribute to a culture of technical excellence, innovation, inclusion, and continuous learning.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
    • OR equivalent experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
    • OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of software engineering experience developing large-scale applications, cloud services, or distributed systems.
  • Solid programming experience in C#, Java, C++, or similar object-oriented languages.
  • Experience building full-stack solutions using modern web technologies and frontend frameworks.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead complex technical initiatives involving multiple teams and stakeholders.
  • Solid system design, debugging, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience driving projects from architecture through production deployment and operational ownership.
  • Experience with distributed systems, caching technologies, databases, and service reliability engineering.
  • Experience building full-stack solutions using modern web technologies and frontend frameworks.
  • Experience utilizing AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot.
  • Experience developing enterprise management, security, compliance, or productivity solutions.
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills with the ability to influence technical decisions across organizations.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with rapidly evolving technologies and priorities.

Software Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $119,800 - $234,700 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $160,200 - $261,000 per year.
