Job description

What We Are Looking For
Kinder Morgan, one of the largest energy infrastructure companies in North America, is seeking an Application Developer Analyst to join our Operational Support Group (OSG).
This position is part of a GIS and Engineering-focused application team that develops and supports enterprise solutions for approximately 79,000 miles of pipelines (natural gas, crude oil, gasoline, CO₂) and 139+ terminals. The team builds and maintains custom applications that support operations, engineering, and business functions across the organization.
We are looking for a candidate with a strong blend of application development, database expertise, and GIS (Geographic Information Systems) experience within the ESRI ArcGIS ecosystem.
What You Will Do
Within the OSG group, you will support applications used by Operations and Engineering to support the safe operation of our vast pipeline assets.
Core Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, test, deploy, and support custom applications using .NET (C#) technologies
  • Support and enhance GIS-enabled applications integrated with line of business applications
  • Work with internal teams and third-party vendors to resolve technical issues and deliver solutions
  • Develop and maintain SQL Server databases to support data management associated with the applications in the group
  • Participate in project planning, provide status updates, and contribute to solution design
  • Create and maintain documentation for systems, processes, and data flows
  • Develop business and operational reports using SQL, SSRS, and Power BI
  • Troubleshoot production issues and provide after-hours support as needed

GIS Responsibilities
  • Support and enhance enterprise GIS applications and spatial data workflows
  • Develop and maintain GIS web applications, services, and integrations
  • Work with spatial datasets, map services, and feature services
  • Integrate GIS capabilities with custom .NET applications and enterprise systems

What You Need
Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS, CIS, Engineering, or a related technical field

Experience
  • 2-4 years of relevant experience (3+ years preferred)

Position Requirements
  • Strong experience with .NET development (C#, VB.NET, or related technologies)
  • Experience working with SQL Server databases
    • Database design, development, and performance tuning
    • Data import/export and transformation
  • Experience supporting and troubleshooting large enterprise applications
  • Strong understanding of system integration and data workflows
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities

GIS / ESRI Technical Requirements
  • Strong experience with the ESRI ArcGIS ecosystem, including:
    • ArcGIS Enterprise / ArcGIS Portal
    • ArcGIS Online
    • ArcGIS Server
    • ArcGIS Pro
    • ArcGIS Experience Builder
    • Survey123
    • ArcGIS REST API
  • Experience developing, configuring, and supporting GIS web applications and services using C# and Python
  • Knowledge of spatial data models, geoprocessing tools, and map/feature services
  • Experience integrating GIS capabilities with enterprise applications and databases
  • Understanding of GIS architecture in an enterprise environment

Preferred Skills
  • Experience with PODS (Pipeline Open Data Standard) data models and implementations
  • Experience in the Oil and Gas industry, particularly pipeline or midstream operations
  • Experience supporting third-party/vendor applications
  • Experience building web and desktop applications using .NET
  • Familiarity with data visualization tools (SSRS, Power BI)
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel and Access
  • Knowledge of engineering, asset management, or operational systems

  • Ability to provide after-hours/on-call support when required
