Job description

Our client is seeking a GIS Contractor to support ongoing operational, analytical, and project-based initiatives for an initial six-month engagement, with the potential for extension based on project needs, performance, and budget approval.

This position will follow a hybrid schedule requiring onsite attendance approximately three (3) days per week in the North Dallas area, with the opportunity for remote work on remaining days pending management approval and business needs. Standard business hours will apply Monday through Friday.

The GIS Contractor will support the GIS Manager and collaborate cross-functionally with internal teams to maintain accurate spatial data, support mapping initiatives, and ensure GIS standards and processes are consistently followed.

The ideal candidate will have strong GIS technical skills, excellent attention to detail, and prior experience supporting energy, oil & gas, utilities, engineering, or infrastructure-related projects. Local candidates in the Dallas, TX are strongly preferred. 

Responsibilities
  • Create, edit, maintain, and validate GIS datasets and spatial databases
  • Produce maps, exhibits, and cartographic products for operational and business use
  • Support mapping of minerals, leases, existing wells, and future well locations
  • Maintain and update well datasets and acreage positions
  • Scan, georeference, digitize, and maintain spatial records and historical mapping data
  • Assist with GIS web applications, dashboards, and related tools
  • Troubleshoot GIS-related issues and resolve data discrepancies
  • Ensure data accuracy, organization, and compliance with company GIS standards
  • Collaborate effectively with cross-functional departments and project stakeholders
Mandatory Requirements
  • Experience using ArcGIS Pro and related GIS software tools
  • Experience managing spatial data, geodatabases, and GIS datasets
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently while contributing within a collaborative team environment
  • High attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy
  • Prior experience in energy, oil & gas, utilities, engineering, land, or infrastructure industries preferred
