Position Overview

We are seeking a motivated GIS Technician (0–2 Years Experience) to support the Land Department of Georgia Power.
This position will assist in managing, updating, and maintaining spatial data systems using GIS tools and applications. The ideal candidate will have foundational experience in GIS software, strong attention to detail, and a passion for data accuracy and visualization.

This role offers an excellent opportunity for recent graduates or early-career professionals to develop hands-on GIS expertise within a large-scale enterprise environment.


Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and update GIS databases, ensuring accurate and consistent geographical data input.

  • Assist in GIS data manipulation, visualization, and map production.

  • Support GIS Analysts and the Land Department team with larger spatial and mapping projects.

  • Combine datasets from multiple sources to create cartographic and analytical products.

  • Develop exhibit maps for land acquisition, feasibility studies, and project updates.

  • Participate in QA/QC and metadata maintenance to ensure data integrity.

  • Assist in data acquisition and documentation, following internal GIS standards.

  • Attend training sessions to enhance proficiency in GIS tools, technologies, and workflows.


Technical Requirements
  • 0–2 years of GIS-related experience or recent college graduate with GIS coursework.

  • Diploma or certificate in Geographical Information Systems (GIS)Geography, or related field.

  • Proficiency in ESRI ArcMap and ArcGIS Pro, including editing and basic geoprocessing functions.

  • Knowledge of enterprise GIS databases and data management principles.

  • Familiarity with ArcServer or Enterprise Portal platforms is a plus.

  • Solid cartographic and visualization skills with attention to detail and design accuracy.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Strong organizational and workload management abilities to handle multiple priorities.
