OVERVIEW

Merrick & Company is seeking a GIS student for a paid summer internship for Summer 2027 at our Tucker, GA project office. Imagine working on rewarding client projects and being exposed to unparalleled training and development opportunities!

Merrick’s summer internship program offers meaningful, hands-on experience for students. Designed as a shorter-term, exploratory experience, internships allow students to apply what they’re learning in school while gaining exposure to real projects, professional collaboration, and day-to-day life at an employee-owned company.

The summer internship has a commitment of approximately mid-May through mid-August 2027. 


WHAT YOU'LL DO

The Merrick Intern Program will provide an undergraduate or graduate student an opportunity to gain technical experience in the field of Geographical Information Systems (GIS) processing.

The position requires the collaboration with other disciplines, ability to interface with clients and contractors, follow schedules and budget commitments, work independently, possess good written and oral communication skills and the ability to problem solve.  


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Must have graduation date after August 2027 to be eligible.
  • Must be pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Geography, GIS, Geomatics, or a similar major
  • Must be currently enrolled and entering junior year or higher of degree program
  • College courses in ESRI ArcGIS/ArcPro is required
  • Knowledge and/or courses in GIS including:
    • Data management
    • GIS
    • Cartographic design
  • Must meet expectations for attendance and punctuality.
  • Must have a demonstrable good attendance record
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States without Sponsorship
  • Local candidates only

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Familiarity with basic operations in ESRI ArcGIS/ArcPro software including:
    • Creation and editing of feature classes
    • Attribute edits
    • Labeling and annotation
    • Projection and scale
    • Basic cartographic methodologies
  • Familiarity with ArcGIS Online, Survey 123, and Field Maps
