GIS TechnicianLocation: Atlanta, GAContract- 3 years Client- Georgia PowerJob Summary:Georgia Power's Land Department is seeking a motivated GIS Technician to assist in managing and maintaining spatial data systems. This entry-level position will support various GIS-related tasks including data entry, map creation, QA/QC, and database maintenance. The ideal candidate will be a recent graduate or have up to 2 years of experience in a GIS environment and a passion for spatial data.Key Responsibilities:Assist with data entry, updates, and QA/QC in GIS databasesSupport spatial data maintenance and integration across systemsCreate maps and exhibits to support land acquisition and project updatesCombine data from multiple sources for cartographic productsProduce feasibility and project update mapsAttend training to develop proficiency in GIS tools and standardsAssist senior GIS Analysts in larger project initiativesTechnical Skills & Expertise:Familiarity with ESRI ArcGIS software, including ArcMap and ArcGIS ProBasic geoprocessing and cartographic skillsExperience working with enterprise GIS databases a plusExposure to ArcGIS Enterprise/Portal or ArcServer preferredUnderstanding of metadata and QA/QC processesProficient in data visualization and map productionBehavioral Competencies:Positive attitude and eagerness to learnStrong organizational and workload management skillsSelf-starter with the ability to work independentlyExcellent written and verbal communication skillsTeam-oriented and customer-focusedAdaptable and able to work under pressure
