Job description

Overview: Rapidly expanding Network Infrastructure Solutions company based in Houston is seeking a GIS specialist to join our team. This position will be responsible for creating network maps, construction prints, BOM's, and analyzing data sets. We are seeking someone that would like to help shape the direction of the GIS department within the company. You will work directly with the professional Infrastructure Solutions Team and senior management to develop processes, workflows, and help build and lead a team of GIS professionals. This role will specifically focus on designing FTTH (Fiber to the Home) and other Utility Infrastructure networks.
Responsibilities and Duties:
โ€ข Design, develop, and modify fiber optic network maps utilizing industry standard GIS tools.
โ€ข Create construction prints from the network design.
โ€ข Create and maintain GIS databases.
โ€ข Generate BOM from network maps.
โ€ข Create detailed drawings for construction and permitting.
โ€ข Develop scripts to automate the data entry and extraction processes.
โ€ข Create and document processes for GIS team.
โ€ข Occasionally visit work sites for GPS data collection and data validation
Requirements and Qualifications:
โ€ข Experience in technical field with focus on GIS programs relevant work experience in Fiber, and other Utilities design parameter in GIS.
โ€ข Minimum of 5 years of experience with GIS tools (ArcGIS Pro, 3GIS, or QGIS).
โ€ข Proficient with Microsoft Office tools.
โ€ข Written and oral communication skills with the ability to interact directly with clients, construction crews, city and state GIS and permitting departments.
โ€ข Knowledge of or to learn telecom outside plant design methods and procedures.
โ€ข Experience creating AutoCAD drawings for project details or permits.
โ€ข Ability to train office personnel on best practices of using GIS tools.
