This role serves as a senior technical resource responsible for developing enterprise GIS solutions, performing advanced spatial analysis, supporting enterprise geospatial databases, and delivering innovative mapping and application solutions that support water resources, engineering, environmental stewardship, emergency management, and infrastructure programs.

The ideal candidate is an experienced GIS professional who enjoys solving complex technical challenges, mentoring teammates, and collaborating with engineers, scientists, and project managers to deliver enterprise geospatial solutions supporting mission-critical operations. This position is fully remote, but you must be located within 50 miles of a U.S. Bureau of Reclamation office.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and implementation of enterprise GIS solutions supporting Bureau of Reclamation programs and initiatives.
  • Perform advanced spatial analysis, geoprocessing, modeling, and data interpretation to support engineering, environmental, and operational decision-making.
  • Design, develop, and maintain enterprise geodatabases, feature services, and authoritative geospatial datasets.
  • Configure, publish, and maintain web maps, web applications, dashboards, and hosted services using ArcGIS Enterprise and ArcGIS Online.
  • Develop workflow automation utilizing Python, ArcGIS API for Python, ModelBuilder, and related scripting technologies.
  • Support enterprise GIS infrastructure, data management, and system integration activities.
  • Integrate GIS data with engineering, environmental, and business systems to improve organizational workflows.
  • Perform quality assurance and quality control of spatial datasets, cartographic products, and enterprise GIS services.
  • Develop technical documentation, standard operating procedures, metadata, and data management guidance.
  • Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and guidance to GIS Specialists and Production Specialists.
  • Support customer meetings by gathering requirements and recommending GIS solutions that improve operational efficiency.
  • Assist with enterprise GIS planning, technology evaluations, and implementation of emerging geospatial capabilities.
  • Support field data collection, GPS workflows, imagery management, and remote sensing initiatives when required.

As an employee of geocgi, the Senior GIS Specialist will have access to a generous benefits package, in addition to a corporate culture and community of GIS geeks. Our benefits include but are not limited to:

  • Competitive salaries, commensurate with experience and leading Federal Contractors in the geospatial industry.
  • Opportunities for upward mobility in a dynamic fast paced environment within a small company.
  • Merit-based spot and end of year bonuses.
  • Safe Harbor 401(k) plan with immediate vesting.
  • Flexible work hours and PTO.
  • Enjoy 100% company-paid medical, dental, and vision premiums for individual employees. Coverage extensions for spouses and child dependents are available for purchase through the company plan.
  • Company paid training, certifications, and professional growth and development.

The following are requirements of the Senior GIS Specialist:

  • U.S. Citizen
  • Ability to obtain and maintain DOI PIV credentials and successfully complete required background investigations.
  • Bachelor's degree in Geography, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Computer Science, Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related technical discipline. Equivalent professional experience may be considered.
  • 4+ years of professional GIS experience supporting enterprise GIS environments.
  • Advanced experience utilizing ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Enterprise, and ArcGIS Online.
  • Experience designing and managing enterprise geodatabases and geospatial data architectures.
  • Experience developing GIS applications, dashboards, web maps, and hosted feature services.
  • 3+ years of experience utilizing Python, ArcPy, ModelBuilder, or other automation tools to improve GIS workflows.
  • Experience performing advanced spatial analysis and geoprocessing.
  • Experience integrating GIS with enterprise databases and external business systems.
  • Strong understanding of cartographic principles, spatial data management, and GIS best practices.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while working independently and collaboratively.

The following are preferred of the Senior GIS Specialist:

  • Experience supporting the Bureau of Reclamation, Department of the Interior, or other federal agencies.
  • Experience administering ArcGIS Enterprise environments and enterprise GIS services.
  • Experience with SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, or SQL-based geospatial databases.
  • Experience with ArcGIS Field Maps, Survey123, Experience Builder, Dashboards, and other Esri applications.
  • Experience supporting engineering, hydrology, environmental, land management, or water resource programs.
  • Experience with cloud-hosted GIS environments and enterprise system integrations.
  • Completion of recent Esri technical training related to ArcGIS Pro, Enterprise Administration, Geodatabase Management, Spatial Analyst, or Python.
  • GISP certification and/or Esri Technical Certification.
