Job description

Job Description Performs basic to intermediate professional and technical work involving the development and maintenance of Geographic Information Systems (GIS). Does related work as required. Work is performed under direct supervision.

There are three levels for this position, following is the hiring ranges based on experience: GIS Analyst I: $30.96/hour to $42.57/hour GIS Analyst II: $33.13/hour to $45.56/hour GIS Analyst III: $37.94/hour to $52.17/hour The full salary range for all three levels to provide opportunity for growth and development: GIS Analyst I: $30.96/hour to $54.18/hour GIS Analyst II: $33.13/hour to $57.98/hour GIS Analyst III: $37.94/hour to $66.40/hour Examples of Duties Develops and implements solutions to problems involving geographic data and products; Performs quality control measures on geographic data; Researches and resolves conflicting data problems; Performs routine daily work, including creation and maintenance of geographic data sets, research, and mapping; Provides GIS products, such as map services and feature data updates, to support County activities; Works closely with GIS departmental staff and other departments; Assists field and other office staff with GIS applications, maps, and data needs; Prepares technical studies and reports; Prepares and maintains files and records; Performs related tasks as required. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities General knowledge of geocoding, land records or parcel maintenance, street network maintenance, data conversion, cartography, projections, and datums; General knowledge of coordinate systems, surveying, database management, statistical data analysis, and vector and raster geographic data; General knowledge of computer software and hardware installation, Visual Basic or VBA; Knowledge of ArcGIS 10X Desktop Experience and extensions, ArcGIS Pro, and ArcGIS Online/Enterprise; Knowledge and skill in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe; Ability to analyze, prepare, and present technical information; Ability to effectively communicate ideas, both orally and in writing; Ability to establish and maintain an effective work relationship with associates, government officials, and the general public. Education and Experience Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from an accredited college or university with major work in Geographical Information Systems, Surveying, Planning, Land Records, Civil Engineering, Information Systems, or related field and at least two (2) years of working experience with GIS products.
