Job description

Job Purpose:

The On Site ASI Academic Coach is a part-time position. The Academic Coach works with girls in a classroom environment providing academic coaching and support to girls in the Pittsburgh area in grades 3-12 to increase academic achievement. Academic Coaches have a wide skill range that includes ELA, math, science, foreign language, SPED, and others. Academic Coaches work with students on skill-building, homework assistance, essay writing and college prep. Academic coaching takes place on an individual or group level based upon the need of the student

Position Summary:

  • Provide ongoing academic support to the girls in across the programs.
  • Plan effective instruction that supports academic growth and provide weekly submission of lesson plans.
  • Work with afterschool staff and supervisors to integrate academic learning into the daily routines
  • Bi-Weekly submission of progress notes
  • Effective communication with parents, team members and support agencies
  • Actively participates in all required team meetings, trainings, and supervisory sessions. Meets regularly with supervisor, communicates openly needs, concerns, and ideas; utilizes feedback given in supervisory sessions.
  • Performs in accordance with established system-wide competencies and receives satisfactory performance evaluations annually
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Work Environment:

Works in an environment with girls in grades 3-12 with adverse backgrounds. Staff must be prepared to engage youth and be able to problem solve.

Education: Minimum requirement is a High School diploma or higher preferred.

Licensure/Certification: N/A

Minimum Requirements:

  • All applicants must be over 21 years of age
  • Effective communication skills and be highly organized
  • Experience working with children
  • Experience working in a classroom/after school setting

Clearances Required: PA Act 33 (Child Abuse) / Act 34 (Criminal History) / Federal Criminal History Record (FBI Fingerprint) / National Sex Offender Registry
