Job description

POSITION TITLE:              Girls on the Run Program Coordinator

STATUS:                            Full Time 

DEPARTMENT:                GOTR

REPORTS TO:                   Director of Youth Programming

DATE:                                8/21/2026

SUMMARY: EmBe is seeking a full time Girls on the Run Program Coordinator. This individual will be responsible for the organization, coordination, and implementation of Girls on the Run and Heart & Sole programs in South Dakota.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Coordinate the organization, implementation, and oversight of the daily operations of the Girls on the Run programs across South Dakota.
  • Coordinate GOTR volunteer recruitment, application, process background checks and lead trainings (virtually and in person).
  • Does the reporting required for Girls on the Run International.
  • Serve as the main contact for GOTR school/site liaisons. Effectively manage key aspects of site coordination and participant registration processes including site application and selection, liaison communication, and coordinate participant registration.
  • Coordinate GOTR coaches’ meetings and prepare agendas, information, and meeting notes.
  • Communicate with participant’s parents, and volunteer coaches regarding weekly GOTR lessons and respond to concerns promptly.
  • Support coaches through site visits and troubleshoot challenges as well as coordinate coach substitutes during the GOTR season.
  • Work closely with GOTR Program Manager to organize end-of-the-season 5Ks.
  • Camp GOTR coordination and implementation throughout the summer including working with other EmBe programs and partners to enhance camp experience.
  • Collaborate with marketing team and Program Manager to enhance GOTR South Dakota social media strategy and collect content and materials throughout the season.
  • Reinforce and lead a culture of empowerment and continuous improvement. Mentor the attitude of honesty and mutual respect. Model professionalism, accountability, and personal responsibility to coworkers, customers, and external contacts.
Qualifications
  • Excellent project management, collaboration, organizational skills, meticulous attention to detail, and customer service skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends, some travel required.
  • Driver’s License required.
Education & Experience
  • Degree or previous experience in recreation, education, youth development, or a related field.
  • Previous teaching and/or coaching experience with youth or girls beneficial.
  • Prior experience working with youth required.
  • Prior experience working with volunteers preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and must have a willingness to learn online systems available through Girls on the Run International that are used to train coaches, track attendance and maintain systems management.
  • Passion for the mission and goals of EmBe.
