Who we are:

The Gill Corporation is one of the world's largest manufacturers of honeycomb, high performance floor panels, cargo compartment liners and original equipment for passenger and freighter aircraft. The company also excels in many other types of reinforced plastics including interior sandwich panels for creating structures such as aircraft galleys and bulkheads, honeycomb core and related products.

The Gill Corporation is seeking a Senior Automation Engineering Manager to direct, coordinate, plan, and organize engineering activities. The team will be responsible for establishing and implementing the automation strategy.

Reporting to the COO, they will perform but not be limited to the following responsibilities.

Responsibilities:

  • Achieve the corporate annual goals
  • Team management including direct reports, cross functional indirect and sub-contractors
  • Understand, evaluate and document the current manufacturing operations related to automation
  • Establish an automation roadmap and implementation strategy
  • Establish and achieve business metrics such as: project schedule, cost and savings
  • Document and manage process improvement projects
  • Lead Continuous Improvement projects to increase labor efficiency, increase yield and reduce scrap
  • Develop, budget and manage capital expenditure projects
  • Work directly with vendors to design and implement automation equipment
  • Drive cost reduction year over year savings
  • Increase equipment throughput and capacity
  • Eliminate waste of raw materials, utilities, staffing, and other company resources wherever possible
  • Continually assess, develop and staff the subordinate groups with the talent necessary to operate at a high level of accuracy and productivity
  • Mentor other Gill personnel to help navigate Gill processes, policies and procedures and set them up for success
  • Other essential duties may be assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • B.S. degree in Engineering; MBA or advanced technical degree is a plus
  • Fifteen (15) years Engineering Leadership experience in a manufacturing/process environment
  • Knowledge of mechanical, electrical and chemical systems used in industrial settings
  • Understanding of capital justification, procurement, and installation processes
  • Software – proficiency in: MS-Office, Smartsheet, CAD software, & SAP a plus
  • DoD Security Clearance a plus
