Job description

There's no pledge more important than the one we make to look after our environment, and we're committed to helping you do exactly that.
Join us as we strive to ensure a sustainable future for our communities and the world we live in.
Become part of our global network of skilled engineers, scientists, auditors, planners and environmental specialists, all working together to leave this world better than we found it.
At GHD, we are committed to addressing some of the world's most complex challenges across energy, water, environment, and communities. As demand for digital infrastructure accelerates, reliable and scalable power has become one of the defining constraints for data center development.
Who are we looking for?
We are seeking a Datacenter Energy Infrastructure Leader - US to help grow GHD's data center energy infrastructure offering across the United States, supporting both our Power & Utilities and Technology & Communications sectors. This client-facing role will shape opportunities, advise clients on energy strategy and grid interconnection, connect multidisciplinary expertise across GHD, and maintain continuity from early engagement through delivery.
Working with an energetic and high performing team, this position offers a wide variety of tasks and responsibilities and will see you involved in
  • Serving as the senior technical and business development lead for GHD's data center energy infrastructure offering, helping position an integrated cross-sector value proposition across power, infrastructure, buildings, environment, advisory, and delivery services.
  • Driving business development and work-winning with hyperscalers, data center developers, colocation providers, utilities, ISO/RTO stakeholders, infrastructure investors, IPPs, EPC partners, and energy ecosystem partners.
  • Acting as a trusted advisor to clients on power availability, grid interconnection, utility engagement, transmission and distribution constraints, energy supply strategy, resiliency, phasing, and practical delivery pathways.
  • Translating client needs into integrated energy infrastructure solutions, including utility service strategy, interconnection risk, transmission and distribution impacts, gas-to-power, renewables, fuel cells, BESS, hybrid energy systems, and behind-the-meter options.
  • Leading client-facing technical discussions and supporting early-stage decisions that enable data center projects to move from site selection and feasibility into engineering, construction support, commissioning, and operational handoff.
  • Maintaining continuity from pursuit through delivery as the client-facing technical lead or advisor, ensuring proposal commitments, project scopes, delivery teams, and execution strategies remain aligned.
  • Providing technical direction and oversight to multidisciplinary teams delivering feasibility studies, advisory work, engineering, permitting, project management, cost estimating, commissioning support, and related services; this position is not intended to function as a design manager.
  • Supporting strategic pursuits and proposals through capture planning, technical narratives, proposal development, client presentations, governance reviews, and pursuit conversion activities.
  • Connecting GHD teams across Power & Utilities, Technology & Communications, Property & Buildings, Energy & Resources, Advisory, Environment, Transportation, Water, and regional markets to deliver a unified data center energy solution.
  • Working with GHD SMEs across APAC, EMEA, and the Americas to bring relevant technical expertise, delivery experience, and regional lessons learned to data center energy infrastructure projects in the United States.
  • Identifying market trends, emerging client needs, capability gaps, hiring priorities, scalable delivery approaches, and opportunities to build GHD's market share in data center energy infrastructure.
  • Contributing to pipeline growth, priority pursuits, successful project awards, client satisfaction, and strong market positioning with priority data center and energy infrastructure clients.

What you bring to the team
  • Significant senior-level experience in power, utilities, energy infrastructure, grid interconnection, transmission and distribution, power generation, or large-scale energy projects.
  • Direct experience supporting data centers, mission-critical facilities, or similarly complex infrastructure programs where reliable, scalable energy supply is critical to project success.
  • Recognized credibility with key stakeholders such as hyperscalers, data center developers, colocation providers, utilities, ISO/RTOs, energy infrastructure investors, IPPs, EPC partners, renewable developers, BESS developers, and other industry participants.
  • Strong understanding of data center energy requirements, including power availability, utility coordination, interconnection strategy, transmission and distribution constraints, resiliency, redundancy, staged capacity development, and speed-to-market considerations.
  • Working knowledge of energy supply and infrastructure solutions for data centers, including gas-to-power, renewables, fuel cells, BESS, microgrids, hybrid systems, and behind-the-meter energy solutions.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the full project lifecycle for complex energy infrastructure projects, including planning, site evaluation, feasibility, engineering, permitting, construction support, commissioning, operational readiness, and handoff.
  • Proven ability to lead client-facing technical discussions, clarify decision points, secure alignment, and translate complex technical considerations into practical scopes, delivery plans, and action items.
  • Experience supporting complex business development, strategic pursuits, capture planning, proposal development, client presentations, and opportunity conversion in technically complex infrastructure environments.
  • Ability to guide multidisciplinary teams and SMEs across engineering, planning, advisory, environmental, project delivery, commercial, and risk disciplines while providing senior technical judgment and oversight without being the primary design lead.
  • Strong executive presence, communication skills, commercial awareness, and ability to build trusted relationships across external clients, industry partners, and internal GHD sector leaders.
  • Ability to mobilize regional and global expertise across APAC, EMEA, and the Americas to deliver integrated solutions across the full project lifecycle.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent is preferred but not required; senior-level technical judgment, market credibility, and client influence are the priority.
