Basic Job Summary

The Service Technician is a line production employee responsible for generating billable labor at a level determined by service management.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Produce billable labor on vehicles brought into the service department for service or repair.
  • Performing routine preventative maintenance (lubricating, cleaning, calibrating) and repairing or replacing faulty parts according to manufacturer specifications
  • Maintain a high standard of quality workmanship for the labor performed.
  • Keep work area clean as per the Gettel Technician Work Area Responsibilities procedure.
  • Maintain a high level of cleanliness, grooming, and uniform appearance.
  • Maintain an acceptable level of self-study training as determined by management. 
  • Flag flat rate that is true and accurate.
  • Arrive at work, take breaks and lunch, and depart work at the times designated by management.
  • Inform management of any situation or event that would interfere with established objectives, standards, or company policy.
  • Inform management of any situation or condition that would jeopardize the safety, welfare, or integrity of the dealership, its employees, or its customers.
  • Inspecting machinery, running diagnostic tests, and dismantling components to pinpoint the root cause of malfunctions.
  • Logging maintenance activities, tracking repair times, and writing up reports on system performance and safety regulations
